The Great Grape Heist
"Grapes? Grapes. There's something about the grapes!" I immediately shot up from a deep sleep, forgetting for a split second the crazy events that happened the night prior that had led Kori and I to this old, beaten-down barn, on an abandoned farm in the middle of nowhere.

Trying Global Cuisine Without Traveling
To this day, I have been unable to travel the globe, which is something I’ve always dreamed of doing. However, I’m still young and have plenty of life ahead of me to travel. I have always been enamored by different cultures and languages and I absolutely love learning about them. While I have never traveled to do so, I have hosted exchange students while I was in high school. That opportunity was the best thing that could have happened to me. I invited these strangers into my home, and by the end of the school year, they became family. While we’re not blood-related, I call them my sisters and brothers. My family shared with each of them, “United States Culture” and they shared with us, theirs; including holidays they celebrate, their social ways of life, and their food. I guess I can say that I have traveled and experienced new cultures without actually traveling. Pretty cool, right?

LGBTQIA+ Music Icons Shaped My Life
I’ve grown up with a love for classic music. Although I was born in 1999, I’ve been told by many that I’m living in the wrong era. My love for 70s music in particular stemmed from my introduction to the band, Pink Floyd as a kid. After my obsession with Pink Floyd grew, I expanded my taste in music to reach other 70s artists and bands, as well as some older artists from the 60s. Music has always been an escape for me. Growing up in and out of hospitals, I was able to put my headphones in, turn up my music, and disappear from the crazy life I was living; even if it was only for a little while. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel like the lyrics behind some of the classic 60s and 70s songs have a deeper meaning than the lyrics of most songs today. Maybe my obsession with finding my own meaning within songs has contributed to my love for classic music.

I’m a writer. I always feel weird saying that. “I’m a writer.” Most days I don’t consider myself a writer because all I do is create poetry and jot down my thoughts and feelings about life, and other things. I don’t necessarily think that skill is needed for “my type of writing”. That being said, I’m obsessed with learning new things. I don’t know if it’s my ADHD, or just my appreciation for learning. Maybe it’s both.

A Grand Place to See Wildlife
Living in Arizona, there’s no way you can escape wildlife, no matter how hard you may try. I guess it’s a good thing I love all things wildlife! The beauty of Arizona is that the elevation rises dramatically as you head up north. My Southern town’s elevation is 500 feet above sea level. A short hour and a half drive north will put you at an elevation above 2,000 feet. The highest elevation in Arizona is 12,633 feet above sea level; an elevation that seems inconceivable in this dry, Western State.

Art and Community Connection
As a child, I was very athletic. I remember myself playing soccer and joining a cheer team in the same season because I loved both, and couldn’t choose between them. On Saturdays, I would be cheering for my small town’s football team, all while keeping an eye on the time. During the last quarter of the football games, I’d have to rush to change into my soccer uniform, and my parents would take me directly to my soccer matches. I loved soccer. Maybe just a bit more than cheer. Everyone around me; my family, coaches, and people I didn’t even know, said they thought I would become a professional soccer player one day. That’s what I wanted. I wanted to continue to play soccer, become a professional, and play until I couldn’t anymore.
