Science suggests Orange Juice has many health benefits
Not everyone, however, will have the same experience with this beverage.
Orange juice has many benefits
In recent years, articles have indicated that orange juice has no value. A nutritionist once told my husband that OJ was nothing but empty calories. I disagree because, in my personal experience, I have found this beverage to be beneficial.
When my blood pressure has been elevated, drinking a glass of OJ has helped to lower it, although this may not be everyone's experience. Whenever I have cold symptoms, drinking orange juice has also been beneficial.
I once drank four glasses of cranberry juice in one day to relieve a stuffy nose, and I ended up with allergy/sinus infection symptoms. When I blew my nose, I had a runny nose, fever, burning eyes, itchy throat, and thick mucus. I prayed, and "orange juice" came to mind. I drank half a glass, and the other issues began subsiding. Now, I drink cranberry juice in half a glass with water added.
Science backs the power of OJ
According to Drink This Not That, significant scientific evidence supports the benefits of orange juice for fighting colds or flu viruses. OJ has also been proven to be beneficial for the immune system.
A study published in Frontiers in Immunology reveals that vitamin C and folate in citrus juices sustain the integrity of the immune barriers and protect many immune cells, including natural killer cells and T-cells. Moreover, the bioactive compounds in citrus have anti-inflammatory effects to support immunity.
Orange juice is nutrient-rich, and one eight-ounce glass equals two daily servings of fruit. It also provides more than 100% of the daily vitamin C. Orange juices offer vitamin A and folate; today, you can purchase brands fortified with Calcium and vitamin D.
AI reveals the following about the beverage.
Orange juice is a popular beverage with several health benefits when consumed in moderation. Here are some of the key benefits:
Rich in Vitamin C
Immune Support: Orange juice is an excellent source of vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that helps strengthen the immune system, protect against infections, and promote overall health.

Free Radical Protection: Besides vitamin C, orange juice contains other antioxidants like flavonoids and carotenoids, which help protect cells from oxidative damage caused by free radicals.

Blood Pressure: Orange juice is a good source of potassium, which helps regulate blood pressure and reduce the risk of hypertension.
Promotes healthy skin
Collagen Production: Orange juice's vitamin C supports collagen synthesis, which is essential for maintaining healthy skin, reducing wrinkles, and improving skin texture.
Supports Digestive Health
Fiber Content: While juice is low in fiber, whole orange juice with pulp can provide some dietary fiber, aiding digestion and promoting gut health.
Boosts Iron Absorption
Iron Absorption: Vitamin C enhances the absorption of non-heme iron (the type of iron found in plant-based foods), which can benefit individuals at risk of iron deficiency.
Hydration
Fluid Balance: Orange juice has a high water content, making it a hydrating beverage that contributing to daily fluid intake.
Energy and Carbohydrates

Improves Kidney Health
Kidney Stones: Some studies suggest that regular consumption of orange juice may help reduce the risk of kidney stones by increasing citrate levels in the urine.
Disclaimer
I've had cousins who could not drink OJ because the acid burned their throats, so this drink might not be for everyone. One important thing to remember is that orange juice is high in sugar, so it's best to drink one or two glasses daily in moderation. Anyone who is diabetic or dealing with other health problems should check with their healthcare provider first.

Being diabetic, I was told to stick to the fruit, rather than the juice. 😉💕 When I get a cold though I use the c packets and zinc for quicker relief or to stop it in it's tracks. Colds are lasting too long now.
This piece reminds me of how long it has been since I’ve had orange juice. I didn’t know drinking four glasses of cranberry juice could lead to allergy symptoms. Interesting too that it can reduce the risk of kidney stones by increasing citrate levels. Thank you for the knowledge, this will allow me to consider picking up an orange or an orange juice, here and there. I’ve been trying to find your stories and your profile for a long time now. I see you liked some of my work (thank you so much), but when I tried to type your name in, you never came up. Now I found you by typing something else, so on accident, but glad I have a way now to return the support through my comment. 🤗
