parents
The boundless love a parent has for their child is matched only by their capacity to embarrass them.
How to Recycle Small Plastic Toys
Everyone loves to give your child small plastic toys. Usually they come with good intentions. We love to see children smile because they are delighted by a new trinket. The prize packs from school celebrate good behavior and important milestones. Family bring tiny treats just because. The local business gains ten minutes of your attention by distracting your child with a shiny object. The bracelet pen your daughter got from Girl Scouts keeps her from feeling left out when Mom didn't buy enough cookies. You know how it goes. . . Every holiday and birthday party brings more.

When a Father doesn't Want to be a Father
I haven't seen my father in over twenty years. My last conversation with him became an argument. We argued over his attendance to my wedding. The day of my wedding, my father had signed up to play in a golf tournament. Because he had paid $100 to enter the tournamemt, he refused to forfeit that cost to walk me down the aisle.

The Dark Years
Not everyone is as dynamic of a character as I have been my entire life. I have an obsessive personality type, so I’ll obsess over something for an amount of time, sometimes a short period and sometimes a long period. But whenever I find something new to obsess over, I’m done with the previous thing without even making a conscious decision about it. I’ve obsessed over things like drawing, reading, writing, cars, music, video games, languages, board and card games, tv shows, musical instruments, food, videos, learning, etc.

A Pleasant Surprise
The pure excitement of being a daddies girl has always been one of the greatest highlights of my life. I didn't have to share his time or his space that was of course until I had sons, three, then I just became one of their buddies. It was rather strange at nineteen my dad came to my apartment with five plants. I don't know what I did that gave him the impression that those plants were going to excite me besides the fact that I was girl, at least that's what I thought. But hey, for him I'll try it.

A Dad Walks Into A Thrift Store
I do not enjoy thrift store shopping. I feel really bad saying that, because my wife loves thrift store shopping. I love my wife, and I feel like I am at least supposed to tolerate what she loves as a supportive husband. I also see the benefit of thrift store shopping! It is like a treasure hunt; you never know what amazing thing you will find in the middle of all of the second hand socks, shirts, and furniture that looks as old as your parents! But I still do not enjoy thrift store shopping.
