The boundless love a parent has for their child is matched only by their capacity to embarrass them.
Single Mother Guilt
One thing that I always imagine for myself was a greater life for my child than I had ever been afforded. I wanted my little one to have all the things I never had, experience all the things I never did, and never be fearful to tell me a single thing. I've always had this perfect vision of me along side the man of my dreams raising beautiful children in an emotionally healthy home. My dreams were shattered and it left me feeling like I had truly failed.

Dealing With Distractions: Mom (and Dad) Guilt
Parents, especially moms, are often filled with immense guilt, no matter what they do. They feel like they never spend enough time with their children, no matter if they work or stay at home with them. They feel guilty because they want to work on their business so that it can be successful.

Ready to Fly. Top Story - April 2022.
My son is currently in Montana at my nephew’s house for a couple of weeks. He is running, lifting weights, swimming, boxing, and shoveling snow (hoping to do some snowboarding too). I have spent my days trying to stay busy so I can distract myself from the fact that he is not here. He doesn’t exactly like to hang out with me when he’s at home (he’s 17 years old), but I know he’s here. On the occasions when he wants to talk to me or show me something I enjoy the interaction.

My Dad Has Dementia - Journal Entry #6. Top Story - April 2022.
It's been nearly a year since we had to put Dad into a memory care facility. It was getting to the point where he really didn't feel like his home was his home and he kept wanting to leave. There were accounts of him out walking down the street, waiting outside the house late at night with a box of clothes as if waiting for someone to get him, and other times walking purposefully in the direction of his childhood home.

A Bad Relationship With Mom. Top Story - April 2022.
Mothers. We need them. But so often we find them to be the source of great pain and anguish, from our adolescence to late adulthood. Relationships with moms are hard and can be tricky. Often times they fizzle out into a distant talk or rare communications until you begin to realize that every time you see her, she ages.

Being an Army Parent:
There is a ton of presence put on ‘Army Moms’ when in my opinion there needs to be an equal presence placed on ‘Army Parents’. Dads make a huge contribution as well when a child is in the military. However, that is not what this blog is focusing on. I really want to bring attention to the different ways to keep the lines of communication open when a parent has a child in the military, specifically the Army. You see, if you know me personally, you already know my son is active Army and is out of the country deployed right now. So, this is a topic that is near and dear to my heart.

The First Crocus
My baby sister and I sat inside a ring of stones that had been placed around a dogwood tree in our yard, looking at some of the first crocuses of the year. This was the first house my parents bought, with a big yard that my mother was eager to landscape. My mom loved bulb flowers, crocuses, daffodils, tulips and anything else that looked colorful on the packages lining the garden center shelves. But crocus were her favorite. Tiny little explorers braving the cold and snow, sacrificing their petals young so that bigger, bolder flowers could follow.
