My Review of 'The Mule'
I was a little apprehensive when my girlfriend suggested watching The Mule. I didn't know much about it, but if it's a Clint Eastwood movie I think I've probably seen it already. Usually his movie's are based off some real life situation where there's some self sacrifice at the very end to get the audience to feel for the main character.

Reason First: What Should Happen to the North Face Looters?
The savages who stole over $30,000 worth of North Face merchandise are in bad company. Whether it’s in relative normalcy, or a natural disaster, or computer secrets, thieves have been more than willing to act as brutes. From the Johnstown, Pennsylvania Flood of 1889 where white people used pliers to pry gold from the mouths of the dead and snapped off ring fingers to obtain jewels, to China swiping data, to this present incident with negroes, the same idea remains the same in all incidents: second-handedness.

The Mysterious Man of Somerton Beach
The sickly sweet ocean air is heavy, waves crashing against banks of sand in a soundless buzz. It's early, too early for a body to wash up against the shore, the neon sun barely peaking above the choppy sea water. The man is dressed nicely, a suit around his shoulders. He looks as if he's sleeping, but investigators know all too well that the mystery man who appeared from nowhere has a story behind him.

Black Medusa
A cold, moonless night with a slight drizzle of rain set the tone for bad things to come. The big black Escalade roared down the long, black, serpentine I-77 highway toward Sugar Creek road where a neighborhood hole-in-the-wall, rump-shaking club lived. The destination: the Viper lounge, where men went to get their drink on and find female companionship. It wasn't a rump-shaking club, but what went on in the private rooms stayed in the private rooms. A little after midnight and they were making good time since the interstate wasn't busy.

Token Black
Two AM Sunday morning, but the usual after midnight crowd at Mitch's bar on Central Avenue didn't stick around on the account that it was the Lord's day. Owned by a man with the same name, Mitch Blake, a former actor who was once a pretty boy in Hollywood, became an aging pretty boy as his star began to diminish, so he left tinsel town to come back home and use his money to open a bar.

5 Takeaways from the First Trailer for 'Knives Out'
For the record, I really enjoyed The Last Jedi. I thought that director Rian Johnson knocked that Star Wars story out of the park with bold narrative choices, strong visuals, and a modest, but palpable sense of humor and fun. My fellow critics appear to agree with me for, the most part, but a venomous, vocal group of Star Wars fans has nevertheless fouled much of the memory of The Last Jedi with their toxic takes on the movie.

Reason First: Is It Proper for Rapper YG to 'Stay Dangerous'?
The bullets, gun battles, and animosity associated with the hip hop genre hinder it from being a culture. For rapper Slim 400, who survived over nine shots to his body, the whole gang mentality should be put to rest. As his associate YG has said that he will “stay dangerous” this only perpetuates the back and forth between gang members. With the shooting death of Nipsey Hussle, YG explained that the slain rapper was a “brother from another color,” referencing the fact he is a Blood and Hussle was a Crip. But with Slim 400 expected to make a full recovery, the winds of vengeance may begin to blow. Hopefully, guns remain cold. When asked by a TMZ reporter if he has “any message for the people that did it” YG just waved off the question with a “C’mon man.”

Modern Slavery
Slavery means being subject entirely to someone else's authority as if property. The word has somewhat vanished but the definition is still valid. Terms like child marriage, forced prostitution, debt bondage, bonded labor, and human trafficking exist instead. It exists wherever one human can convince another that he has no value of his own. Its victims cannot leave of their own free will. In the ancient worlds of the Ottoman and Roman empires, slavery was common. We have advanced globally as a people but too slowly. According to the 2018 Global Slavery Index, there are 40,300,000 enslaved. It is not "legal" anywhere in the world but there are many places where it is a "normal" practice. In Mauritania, slavery was banned in 1981, but as many as 20% of the population is estimated to still be enslaved today. In Haiti, forced child domestic servants called restavek are estimated today to be between 225,000 and 500,000, though slavery was abolished in 1793. In Ethiopia, slavery had been part of its culture for centuries. During the 1935 Italian occupation, slavery was officially banned though to little effect. The independent Ethiopia again tried to stamp it out in 1942 due to pressure from the international community. Eritrea still fails to enforce its 2007 law, where slaves are often descendant based. It's national conscription service can often mean an indefinite period of servitude. In North Korea, as much as 20% of the population may be in forced labor camps though this number is difficult to ascertain. In Tibet, controversial legal slavery in the form of serfs may have existed up to 1959. Other places where slavery remains high include Burundi, Central African Republic, South Sudan, Pakistan, Cambodia, Iran, and India. In many places, slavery is a product of war, devastating natural disasters, lack of rule of law, and poverty.

Reason First: Should A$AP Rocky and Crew Be Let Off Because of Poor Camerawork?
There ought to be lessons in elementary school on up to PhD-level on how to best hold the camera when shooting footage on a cellphone. The latest video to go all shaky and distorted purportedly presents A$AP Rocky and crew assaulting a man in the streets of Stockholm, Sweden. The brief melee is difficult to decipher, as the amateur videographer shimmies with the videophone. Poor quality doesn’t help the matter much. When law enforcement arrived, they wanted to see the evidence in living color. What they didn’t want was jerky picture that looks like a war film where there’s no Steadicam.
