Shake it Out . Top Story - December 2024.
I have made so much progress in my eating disorder recovery that it is SCREAMING for control again. With this progress comes WAY more fighting. I thought it was bad a month ago and now I cry when meals are placed in front of me. I'm breaking but I need to stay strong... For myself. I'm doing that through music that helps me. One of those songs is Shake it Out. Almost every line has a deep meaning to what I'm going through.

How Frank Sinatra Pissed Off David Bowie
David Bowie had fucked up, and now he was kicking himself. It was 1968, near the start of his career. To make ends meet, he was working for a music publisher writing English lyrics to foreign language songs. He’d been given a French song to work on called Comme d’Habitude. He banged out some lyrics and created a version called Even a Fool Learns to Love.

Playlist: new releases
Binaries – If God Exists, I don’t First up, great song title. Intriguing, and likely to annoy all the right kinds of people. But that doesn’t mean much without the music to back it up. Happily, from the first stabs of menacing synth strings, this one is a belter. There’s a whiff of Paranoid Android-era Radiohead about the vocals – never a bad thing – charting a descent into tech dystopia with memorable flair.

Give or take a couple of weeks, this could be the soundtrack to 2024.
I climb onto the 6AM flight to Seattle and hear those opening notes of Anti-Hero by Taylor Swift through my earbuds Yawning behind an airplane window barely warmed by January's dawn, I nurse both a coffee and the hangover that came from last night's going away party. The song seems fitting — I'm the problem, it's me (leave aside everything familiar for a new job 3,000 miles away). The bass line thumps under my nerves, a pulse when mine feels anything but.
