The error prompted a red light to illuminate. “I’m sorry. You have a forty-six point six percent melanin count. You may not enter the Wilmington, Delaware courthouse.” The checker moved onto the next patron and a green light passed. Her blond hair, cerulean eyes, and pearl-colored skin flew by in a blue light as she entered the building. The checker was black as the patron he whisked away. Paula Gander shook and raised her head. She walked back to her car. In the passenger seat, sat chemicals that would make her skin snowy white.

At the rate we’re going, the Miami Dolphins will be the only sports franchise with a name that doesn’t offend anyone. In the four major American sports (that don’t require gasoline), basketball, baseball, football, and hockey, they have been accused of insensitivity because of their names.

The Power War
Two thousand, four hundred, sixty-one. That’s a number. It represents the scores of American military lives stolen from young men and women in the fight against Islamic Totalitarianism. But it’s more than that. The number means that sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, husbands, and wives received military funerals and memorials all over this land. A knock at the door or ring of a bell led to arrangements, and the process of saying goodbye to a fallen hero.
