The Hustle is not as easy as I thought
In the 70's the music was really flashy and fun and I learned how to do The Hustle. It was a dance and very similar to Travolta's style. I was so proud of myself that I could do the dance. About 7 years ago, I learned another meaning of The Hustle. It's not just a dance from the 70's. Nope. The "Hustle" means a way to make money besides the traditional paycheck job. I met lots of talented "hustlers" on the streets, at homeless shelters, and at various hang outs throughout my travels. I guess they had learned a lot sooner than me that the "Hustle" was much more than a disco dance.

The Buddy System for Health?
I used to be motivated to keep my body healthy and avoid gluttonous eating behavior for vanity's sake and for ambition's sake. Sadly, both my vanity and ambition have been crucified, so I have no reason to care about losing weight except for comfort levels. I can still walk to my car and get out of my chair and wipe myself in the bathroom, so who cares if the doctor calls me "obese" or some health nut calls me "frumpy".

Try Largo Family Restaurant instead of a Buffet
If you've read my local restaurant reviews then you know that I'm a fan of greasy spoons and buffets. Today I'd like to review something a bit different. Do you like Dennys or IHOP or Waffle House or Cracker Barrel? Me too! However, those famous restaurants are typically known for their breakfast menu. If you're craving some fried liver and onions, you don't want to go to those. I have a great suggestion if you're in the Clearwater area. Try Largo Family Restaurant located at 788 Missouri Avenue. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and they have a terrific menu.

Where do you shop for "Phat" clothes?
Not many people hear this from me, but my mother had turned into a full blown lesbian after her 5th straight marriage failed. It was a weird adjustment period for me, and when I asked her if lesbian life was any better or worse, she said there was no difference. At that point, I knew that my bisexual claim was and will always be the truest of the rainbow clan. I mention my relations to the rainbow world because I've been indulging in some entertainment viewing of the rainbow sort. I'm building this up, leading to the plus size clothing industry as I connect the dots regarding lesbians and body image.

Considering possibilities after the 2024 U.S. election
I used to be so pompous and sure of everything only 10 years ago. I've changed so much, anyone who knew me then probably would think I'm an imposter. Some of the changes I made for myself, and some were forced upon me. That's difficult to explain, but not necessary for the discussion I want to have about my government, my country, the election's results, and the possibilities for our future.

Life isn't the same without Payless Shoe Source
Payless Shoe Source was a family business that opened in Topeka, Kansas in 1956. They rose to success in the 60's, and by the 80's were a well known brand. In 2019, they closed all of their 2500 stores, filing for bankcruptcy. Business magazines are reporting that they are planning to re-open sometime in the near future.

Lay-A-Way was better than Credit Cards
Do you remember the Layaway option that was offered at stores like Kmart? I do. It was a great option for people who did not have credit cards or did not want credit cards. Today, Kmart is long gone and instead of layaway all we have is prepaid cards and savings accounts. It's the same concept, but I think the economy lost something in the replacement.

No Pain, No Gain?
I remember as a little girl thinking my grandmother was the most loving and craziest person I knew. Nobody loved me better in my opinion, however she would say some really disturbing things. Before I had even stepped foot into a school, she had told me two things that had me very worried: 1. "Life is extremely hard." 2. "It only gets harder as you get older." I believed her, yet I think that's why I was also so quick to give up or get so suicidally depressed. It's not that she was serving me a deception, and I know her intentions were to prepare me for the challenges ahead, but perhaps that pep talk would have been better served at a later time.
