The Unspoken Reality of Pet Ownership
Most people consider the puppy stage to be the most challenging. With the challenges of crate training, potty training, and behavioral issues, owners find themselves overwhelmed by the responsibility to raise a puppy. While puppy behavior is aggravating to navigate, they end, and the family can fall into a comfortable routine, with the puppy learning the habits and schedules of its owners. Pets have become a part of the family, integrating into daily life, holidays, and special occasions. Pet owners feel that they cannot imagine life without pets. Their existence alone enriches our lives, but we can also start taking them for granted.

End Animal Cruelty Now
I am deeply disturbed by the horrors which occur all over the world associated with the barbaric practice of testing medication and products on defenseless animals. It is far past time for this inhumane practice to stop. We as a society should have evolved enough to understand how unnecessary and cruel using animals to test the safety and effectiveness of products is. To continue this method is not only cruel but ignorant. We should seek to rise above the archaic ways and implement kinder, more intelligent, and enlightened methods and practices in science and other areas where animals are an element.

A New Beginning With Baxter
Baxter came into my life a year after the passing of my previous pet.I had been looking for a westie and a possible match popped up at one of our local shelters, so I wanted to look at her. She turned out to be a very nervous, shy dog who stayed in the back of the kennel. Baxter (called Bart at this time) was in the next kennel. He approached the gate, eager and friendly, wanting affection. After a few minutes of observing him, I decided to take him out for a walk to better assess his potential. After spending some time with him, I decided to bring him home. The paperwork was signed and the journey of a lifetime began.

Life Altering Impact Of Owning A Pet
As a dog owner, I adapt my life to my dog's needs. While she is not my whole life, she is a very big part of it. I am responsible for protecting and nurturing her and ensuring her life is happy and comfortable. I want her to be comfortable, secure and loved during her too-short lifetime. There are things I also accept as part of sharing my life with a pet. Since I was a child, I have loved animals of all kinds and enjoyed the companionship of pets.

The Truth Behind Parental Lies
Most parents would like to think they never lie to their children, but part of the job of a parent is to protect their child from harm and danger. This means sometimes a parent cannot tell their child the truth, as it would be detrimental to them. Parents have the responsibility of keeping their children safe, thus shielding them from adult situations. Children cannot handle situations with life-altering decisions and having to do so can affect their health. When I was growing up, my mother protected me from decisions I did not have the maturity to handle.
