Irene Gut Opdyke
Her story is one of great courage and heroism, especially during World War Two. She saved the lives of more than 12 Jewish people by hiding them in the house of a Nazi Major officer. She was honoured as one of the German Righteous Among the Nations.

Childhood
Childhood is the first chapter in the book Lost Voices of the Edwardians by Max Arthur. The difference between the Edwardian Era and the world we live in today, in 2025, can really be ‘seen’ through the experiences of these Edwardian children. At this time in history, there were no Laws to protect the children, and the NSPCC, (the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children), was in its infancy, (it was founded in 1884 as the London Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children).
