Ring of Fire
Hope the fires of love are burning bright for you this weekend. We said goodbye to September and soon the cold winds of October will start blowing. It is nice to think of blazing campfires and wood crackling in fireplaces. Hope these songs warm you up.

Farms on Canvas
European Artists Farmhouse in Provence Vincent Van Gogh Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh traveled to the Provence area in France to practice his painting skills. He used a combination of colors to make his painting stand out. As in this artwork, the artist depicts a turquoise blue sky above to compliment the red roofs of the buildings and the green of the trees below. Orange hues are used to make it all stand out further. This painting can be viewed at the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC.

Food Named After a Place
It is interesting to know that before the opening of supermarkets and name brands food was often named for the places where it was grown, produced, or manufactured. There are certain foods that you can probably guess where it got its name and certain foods you would be surprised about.

Where is Maanhuttaan?
The biggest problem that Latvian immigrants had in New York City in the 1950s was that the older generation in families the grandmothers and grandfathers often had a most difficult time with English. Mostly they managed by going outside with other family members, babysitting for their grandchildren who picked up English real quick, or just socializing with other Latvians. Well, one grandpa took himself and his wife on a great adventure one fine day.

It is prepared with eggplants, dried and crumbled hot peppers, lemon juice, olive oil, thyme, and salt. First the eggplants are pierced with a knife and baked until tender. Cowboys on Canvas
The Fall of the Cowboy Frederic Remington American artist Frederic Remington focused a great deal of this artistic career on painting depictions of the American Old West particularly in the 19th century. The artist was born in New York during the start of the Civil War. I showed talent in drawing and sketching cowboys and soldiers. He created this artwork in 1895 intending to show the end of the free cowboy life. During the snowy winter two cowboys have come to a fence and one is opening a gate so that they can continue on. The fence represents the barrier to a cowboy’s life barring their freedom.

Amazing Niagara Falls
You know what water sounds like when it's gushing down. It is a sort of roaring identified with waterfalls. If you didn't see Niagara Falls first but heard the falls, you would hear the sound of thousands of opened water taps gushing out water. Your ears fill with the sound, and then you see the falls and the surrounding beauty, and it is so amazing it could make your eyes misty.
