Beautiful Buffalo

A city in New York State

Buffalo is the second most populous city in New York State. It is located at the east end of Lake Erie. The city has impressive historic buildings and is near Niagara Falls.

Visitors can enjoy the Niagara Wine Trail stretching between the hills of northern New York State and Lake Ontario. With an ideal climate for grape growing they produce European-quality wines such as Sauvignon Blanc.

The impressive Buffalo City Hall was built in the American Art Deco style. It has a high-rising tower which is among the tallest towers in Western New York. From the very top, you can get fantastic views of the city and Lake Erie.

Well-known American architect Frank Lloyd Wright designed the Darwin D. Martin House. It is located on the edge of Delaware Park. The complex has six interconnected buildings. It is a National Historic Landmark.

Delaware Park has wide-open green spaces, tree-lined paths, and places to play tennis and golf.

The park is home to the Buffalo Zoo with a wide variety of animals among them gorillas, Indian rhinoceros, polar bears, tigers, and others. All the animals live in natural habitats.

At the zoo visitors enjoy the Delta Sonic Heritage Farm, a recreation of a 1850s farm. Here visitors can get up close with the animals.

The Albright Knox Art Gallery is housed in a Greek Revival Building. It is located in Delaware Park. The gallery has a collection of modern and contemporary art.

Canalside is a revitalized part of downtown Buffalo. The area stretches along the canal and offers green spaces to relax. Looking out toward the canal is a lovely park with Adirondack chairs and benches. Along the water is a walkway.

Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens were created in the late 1800s. There are more than 2000 plants and trees. The centerpiece of the gardens is an 1894 Victorian-style tri-domed glass conservatory building. It was designed based on the famous Crystal Palace and Kew Garden Palm House in England. Among the highlights are the orchid house, herb collection, and waterfall.

Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site is the place where the 26th President of the US Theodore Roosevelt took the oath of office on September 14, 1901. There is a museum and you can get a guided tour.

Forest Lawn is a large, scenic cemetery dating back to 1849. The cemetery is worth a visit and looks like a lovely park with towering trees, water features, and walking paths.

Gravesite of the 13th President of the US Millard Fillmore.

Harborcenter is the place to shop and has a wide variety of shopping opportunities and dining in the best restaurants.

Buffalo and Eric County Naval & Military Park is located along the canal in downtown Buffalo. Visitors can see the guided missile cruiser USS Little Rock, the destroyer USS The Sullivans, and the submarine USS Croaker. The ships can be toured and the museum displays aircraft and other artifacts.

Coca-Cola Field is home to the Buffalo Bisons, a minor-league baseball team. Visitors can tour the stadium.

Shea's Performing Arts Center was built in 1926 in the Classic style with a neo-Spanish Baroque interior. It has ornate chandeliers and a marble-lined grand lobby. It is a National Historic Landmark. Tours are available.

St. Joseph's Cathedral was built in the Gothic Revival style. It is an impressive looking church right in the center of the city.

The Liberty Building was built in the neo-Classic style in 1925. It is the largest office tower in Buffalo. On the rooftop are two huge statues based on the Statue of Liberty.
