Foods That are Not International
Arizona Chimichangas did not originate in Mexico. This happened quite by surprise at the El Charro Cafe in Arizona in 1950. The chef made a mistake by tossing a burrito in hot oil. She wanted to cuss her mistake but with kids around she simply shouted, “Chimichanga!” and the creation was born. Up until that time no one had thought to deep-fry a burrito.

Dogs on Canvas
European Artists Head of a Dog Edvard Munch Norwegian artist Edvard Munch was known as one of the most unique artists of the 20th century. His artworks bordered on Surrealism. He created this painting in 1930 featuring a simple composition of the head and neck of a dog. When he lost both his mother and sister in 1908 to cope with his grief, he developed a special affinity for dogs and they kept him company. In this painting is one of Munch’s beloved dogs.

Bratislava on the Danube
Bratislava is the capital and the largest city of Slovakia. This beautiful city sits on both banks of the Danube River at the foot of the Low Carpathian Mountains. Visitors enjoy seeing the vineyards on the slopes of the Little Carpathian Mountains at the point where they meet with the Danube.

Cats on Canvas
Curiosity Horatio Henry Couldery English artist Horatio Henry Couldery was known for the details he expressed in this painting. He was a popular artist the latter half of the 19th century and known for his paintings of animals mostly cats. He created a series of paintings featuring cats in various scenes. This artwork was titled in reference to the well-known saying “curiosity killed the cat”. In the painting three cats are crouched down, carefuly listening to the movements of a small mouse enclosed in a cage.

Slovakia is officially known as the Slovak Republic in Central Europe. This is a landlocked country bordered by Poland to the north, Ukraine to the east, Hungary to the south, Austria to the southwest, and the Czech Republic to the northwest.
