
Hope the fires of love are burning bright for you this weekend. We said goodbye to September and soon the cold winds of October will start blowing. It is nice to think of blazing campfires and wood crackling in fireplaces. Hope these songs warm you up.
“Play With Fire” is a song that was recorded by the English rock band The Rolling Stones. It is featured on their 1965 album Out of Our Heads.
“I’m On Fire” is a song that was written and recorded by American rock singer Bruce Springsteen. It is featured on his 1985 album Born in the USA. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and Cash Box Top 100 charts. The single reached number one in the Netherlands with Springsteen having two other singles in the Top Ten. This was the first time for an artist to have as many as three singles in the Dutch Top Ten since The Beatles in 1965.
“Ring of Fire” was recorded by American country singer Johnny Cash. His version of this song became the most popular. It was written by his second wife, June Carter Cash and songwriter Merle Kilgore. The song was originally recorded by June's sister Anita Carter and if featured on her 1962 album Folk Songs Old and New. Cash's version is featured on his 1963 compilation album Ring of Fire: The Best of Johnny Cash. His version became one of the biggest hits of his career and went to number one on the country chart. In 2010 it was certified Gold by the RIAA. In 1999 the 1963 recording of the song by Cash was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
“Fire and Rain” is a song that was written and recorded by the American singer and songwriter James Taylor. It is featured on his 1970 album Sweet Baby James. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 1998 his version was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
“Jump Into the Fire” is a song that was written and recorded by the American singer and songwriter Harry Nilsson. It is featured on his 1971 album Without You. The song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Nilsson wrote the song in the hard rock style. He performs the song in the 1974 movie “Son of Dracula” starring Nilsson in the lead as Count Downe. The song is also featured in the 2015 movies “A Bigger Splash”.
“(There’s a) Fire In the Night” is a song that was written by Bob Corbin and recorded by the American country music band Alabama. It is featured in their 1984 album Roll On. The song became the band's 15th straight number-one single on the Billboard Magazine Hot Country Singles chart in 1985.
“We Didn’t Start the Fire” is a song that was written and recorded by the American singer, songwriter, and pianist Billy Joel. It is featured on his 1989 album Storm Front. The fast-paced lyrics give reference to significant political, cultural, scientific, and sporting events between 1949 the year that Joel was born, and 1989. It became Joel's third single to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
“Light My Fire” is a song that was recorded by the American rock band The Doors. It was written by the band's guitarist Robby Krieger but credited to the entire band. This song is recognized as one of the earliest examples of psychedelic rock. It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Another popular version was recorded by Puerto Rican musician Jose Feliciano. His cover version won the Grammy Awards for Best Contemporary Male Pop Vocal Performance and Best New Artist.
