How do I tame my hamster? How do I hold my hamster without being bitten? First of all, a lot of people think hamsters are an "easy" first pet, and a good choice for small children. I enjoyed the hamsters I had as a kid, and my daughter has loved hers, but the fact is they have a lot of downsides.

The first time I saw her, I stalked her gently through the fresh produce. I couldn't help it. I told myself it was because I wanted to, it was a whim, I was hungry. But I was lying to myself. Of course I wasn't going to hurt her. I could no more hurt her than I could stop following her.
