Emily Dickinson “Tell It Slant” Poetry Festival 2025
The Emily Dickinson Museum in Amherst, Massachusetts is gearing up for their “Tell It Slant” Poetry Festival 2025 celebrating the famed poet. The event, held both in-person and virtually, lasts for one week starting September 15th with events daily, including readings of all her poems, free workshops, paid events, programs, and headlining poets.

Sunflower Falsehoods
Another talented Vocal creator, Marilyn Glover, wrote a beautiful piece on the False Sunflower. It was thought-provoking and made me realize just how much nature can reveal about the human condition. I also realized I wanted to share what I learned about myself as I read her Morning Huddle.

Dakota's Gift
Dakota opened her eyes when the alarm started its usual but incessant blaring. She was expecting it to go off at any moment. She’d been lying there with her eyes closed enjoying the feel of the cooling sheets that she had splurged on but wishing that she’d been able to actually get some sleep. When she felt the room start to warm and noticed soft light through her eyelids, she snuggled deeper into the covers and waited for it.

This Little Light of Mine
“Hon, you need to get home. She’s not doing well. It’s time.” I don’t remember how long I held onto the phone after hearing my mother’s somber words but it had long ago disconnected the call. I wanted to pull the old Grand Cherokee out of my assigned parking space and head north, but I couldn’t… not yet.
