A Hidden Candle

By the sorrowful notes of sad, sweet nocturnes...

Emotions speaking words unneeded,

the final deflected decree conceded.

Once passionate brilliance not denied...

perhaps, potentially, we pray only pushed aside.

*

Depleted of tears, nay heavy sobs,

where once our hearts, our heads now throb.

And yet... this pain, this wrenching grief,

is testament to deepest love, but brief.

*

Both tending wounds, running deep,

as we sway to restless, belated sleep,

by the sorrowful notes of sad, sweet nocturnes,

while, not dismayed, a hidden candle burns.

I love how you end with the image of a hidden candle still burning.
