Renga
A renga is a collaborative poem that follows the haiku and couplet format. In the workshop in Oxford, we started by going through some haikus and then couplets and read some traditional contemplate renga forms. Our renga was done going around in the circle. It was a lovely experience because even though our voices are unique, everything connected together. The bold text is my contribution.

Kabul-Inspired Turmeric Chai
Last week, I borrowed a book from my workplace’s library. At the weekend, I finished reading it in the cafe by the canal. The book was called The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul and it’s about five women in Afghanistan. One of them, Sunny is the owner of a coffee shop. It was a fantastic great full of great characters and strong female characters in a manly driven world. The characters were fictional, but it felt very real because it was based on the author’s experience.

All the Books I read in October 2023
I have a bad habit of reading multiple books within the same time. I think I need to finish reading a book first before I start another. On top of that I have been going to the gym more often to try and lose some weight. I feel like the weight should be melting off with with all the excercise I do. I swim four times a week (20-60 minutes depending on my energy for the day), walk to work every day (20 minutes). On top of that I am dabbling in lots of excericse classes and trying new gym equipment and classes. It’s so amazing how the style of yoga classes are so different depending on who your tutor is.

The Periodic Table
Prompt: writer a 500 word peice based on one of the following themes: Prison visit, the wall or let there be dragons. I went with the wall and I ended up going on a tangent and it became a part of one of my on-going fics I post on A03. On the next local writing meet up I am bringing this with me but someone else is going to read it. It will be interesting to hear this read out by somebody else. This was originally posted last night on the fan fiction website: Archive of Our Own aka A03.

The Woman In Me. Top Story - October 2023.
I preordered this book the moment it was available. The Woman In Me is a great book that is full of raw and honest accounts. Over the years I have started to appreciate Britney even more. Britney needed this book to heal. Even if the book may be ghost-written, I felt her voice is present. This is the book that so many wanted to read after she had been silenced for so long. As a child and teenager, I had no idea how vilified Britney was. A childhood star that had been used and abused in every single way. The people who should have taken care of her exploited her.

My Book Wishlist
My book wishlist is low at the moment. I bought a big chunk of them, and I still haven’t had time to read them all yet. Currently in-between four books at the movement, but there are some that I really want to get, and I might save for my Christmas Wishlist.

We Are
I recently found out that there was a South African band in the 1960s called The 004’s It’s the Dutch pop trio called The 004 that I wanted to write about but I thought it was funny how they got pulled up on Google. So when you google The 004, it comes up that they have been active since 1965. Mike, Kelly and Janet have been time hoping!
