An Unlikely Encounter
The gravel shifted quietly under my feet, as darkness spread like ink in the ever changing sky. The lukewarm air caressed my cheek, reminding me of the early afternoon summer’s heat with a whisper of a chill. The rare early day of work celebrated with a visit to a friend’s house. I stepped up the 2 small steps pressing my weight to the door to let myself in. Visits with them were usually anything but dull. Although they had their own mysteries, they were practically family. However, even with that said, this evening was still slightly different.
