Reflection

Life is curious.

It can hurt like hell, and feel euphoric.

It swings both ways. It's hot, sometimes it's cold.

Sometimes it's fast, and oftentimes slow.

It leaves burn marks on our hearts, like the bright cigarettes we smoke.

We learn to overlook burns.

Learn to abandon them, reject them, talk down to them.

Although they sear, we simply numb.

We learn what keeps them at bay, pushing them farther and farther away.

Not realizing we have to embrace them, we have to love them.

Hug them.

Understand where they came from, and why they remain.

Only this will keep us from going insane.
