Victim Complex

Written and Illustrated by Briana Leigh

By Briana MaePublished about a year ago 1 min read

What’s it feel like to be a ghost?

Wandering and lying in wait, bleeding the pains of yesterday.

Resentment building in all it’s reason

Ignoring the possibilities of meaning.

Seeking to hide from what moves us inside.

Unable to realize there’s more than this shallow hollow existence.

Formed out of environments beyond our control.

So instead we wallow.

Hiding in our own vain existence, yet feeling more empty by the instant.

Realizing it’s not about the mask we’ve been taught to uphold.

But the truth so sharply stabbing, and poking us.

Looking for a response, for attention, compassion.

A reason to finally let go.
