I drowned in the unknown vastness As the endless void tried to swallow My struggles to break through the surface As I tried to get out of the dark depths below

Have we really fallen so low To make fun of the person with a disability When we don’t even know What they have to face daily
My heart beats in unison with the Universe In perfect harmony with its symphony As I go through life with wonder and humility
Responsibility and duty are words so heavy For they carry the weight of obligations So we can take accountability For our intentions and our actions
The prince of the night runs in the forest Overseeing the tranquility of the kingdom Greeting the moon like an old friend
The wandering stars illuminating the sky Magnificent light-bearers Benevolently showing the path for others When darkness overcomes the blue sky
The sky shattered with thunder As he uttered his prayer Spent, he fell on his knees As if struck by an arrow The rain drowning his sorrow
So far, I learned four lessons in life Time is an ally when we use it wisely When we’re industrious and productive But it becomes our worst enemy
Lands divided and conquered Senseless destruction for territory Bombs blasting homes into debris The safe haven now a painful memory
The walls shall crumble They shall go down Tumbling and smashing to the ground In a heap of rubble Those high, unbreakable walls
Our lives are stories Chapters and pages One for each event Turning and ticking away The days never to be turned back
Storytelling is a means to understand life To give meaning to its absurdity And make sense of our reality To share someone’s strife
