A Bold Nonpartisan Election Proposal
The current presidential campaign is not serving the people's interest when the cognitive ability of a single candidate is the most popular topic of the election. We have stopped discussing the salient issues that will impact the future of the 330 million people who inhabit a place we call the United States of America. As Candide expressed in the novel by Voltaire, “le meilleur des mondes possibles,” translated as “in the best of all possible worlds,” the American people deserve to know what each party would do to make their lives better or worse if they are elected!

A Closer Look at the Diverging Signals from U.S. Employment Surveys
Some economy watchers have been surprised by the faster employment growth recorded by the U.S. Establishment Survey, ES (used to compute non-farm payrolls) versus the Household Survey, HS employment (used to calculate the national unemployment rate). The Bureau of Labor Statistics, which compiles this data, argues that the ES is more closely linked to economic growth because it includes 80% of workers who contribute to real GDP. In contrast, others believe the HS is better at capturing turning points in the economy because it measures the number of people employed rather than the number of jobs.

What Has Been the Federal Reserve’s Biggest Policy Misstep?
Without a doubt, it was waiting too long to raise its policy interest rate (e.g., the federal funds rate) until inflation rose to unacceptable levels. Nonetheless, what eludes most Fed critics, who seem to believe this is the Federal Reserve’s most significant blunder of all time, is that this has happened many times before. Although making the same mistake more than once is not a valid defense, we seek to set the record straight on this issue.

Oil Market Paradox
OPEC's June 2, 2024, virtual meeting, which included 22 Energy Ministers, extended their prior supply cuts. Previously, OPEC + reduced supply by 5.9 million barrels per day (mb/d), including 3.7 mb/d through the end of 2024 and an additional 2.2 mb/d of voluntary cuts by selected its members through the end of June 2024. In the latest agreement, the 3.7 mb/d supply cuts will now end at the end of 2025, and the voluntary 2.2 mb/d supply cuts will now end at the end of 2024. This means that OPEC+ will continue to remove 5.7% of Global oil supply from the market!

A Journey Between Worlds
The scented flowers and the soft rustle of palm leaves filled the air as I found myself again in a dream that felt more real than life itself! The tropical paradise around me seemed to hum with life; the golden sand beneath my feet felt warm and inviting. Then, as I turned, I saw my dear Mom's face glowing with excitement, her eyes twinkling with the same love and enthusiasm I had always remembered.

My Unforgettable Visit to Doha, Qatar
My visit to Doha, Qatar, was filled with new experiences, cultural immersion, and cherished family moments. My daughter and son-in-law had moved there after he secured a position as a government lawyer. My daughter, also a lawyer, found work in the private sector. Their relocation offered me the perfect excuse to embark on an exciting and exploratory adventure to the Middle East.
