Music Moves Us Through. Runner-Up in The Soundtrack of Your Year Challenge.
2024, for me, was a seminal time. It was the year of truly starting to know and accept myself. I was able to reconcile with the things that made me resent myself, those rotted, ugly parts of me I had locked away and never thought about—things I never wanted to see. I learned to look myself in the face and see the imperfect person staring back at me, and I learned to keep looking, to not avert my eyes from my true self any longer.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins
I’m a big fan of the Hunger Games series. So of course, I was really looking forward to reading this prequel about Coriolanus Snow’s past, and the book didn’t disappoint. It’s not perfect, by any means, but the interesting concepts, powerful moments, and solid character depictions/developments throughout the novel deeply impressed me and made the book worth reading.

2024 For Me: People Pleasing, Magic, and Self-Acceptance
(Preface: 2024 was, in many ways, a brutal year. There was pain, terror, and heartbreak all over the world. There were injustices on injustices, disappointments after disappointments, and a numbing, all-around uncertainty that has seeped into the very bones of our current world. Many people are fulfilled and rich and fat and happy; this is true. Many others are hurt and alone, angry and poor, unsure and afraid, and altogether terrified for the future.

The Unrivaled Art in Vinland Saga
Vinland Saga is one of the most popular seinen anime/manga of all time. It tells the story of Thorfinn, a young boy whose warrior-turned-pacifistic father is killed by vikings. Overtaken by rage and a desire for vengeance, Thorfinn joins Askeladd, his father’s killer, and his crew of vikings to make himself stronger, eventually strong enough to kill the man who took his father away from him.

roll down your window
I would never roll the windows down in a car that is not my own. I would not roll down the window in my father’s car, nor my mother’s car. I would not roll down the window in an Uber; I would not roll down the window anywhere, at anytime, for any reason, on my own.

Wicked: Was It Worth The Hype?
Yes. Yes, it was. Wicked, the recent movie adaptation of the famous 2003 musical, has received an overwhelming amount of media attention, both positive and negative. In fact, a shocking number of controversies surrounded the film way before it came out less than a week ago.
