Introduction
My last Vocal story was meant to be about my writing but turned into a confessional piece, so this is my second shot at this.
The music is Neil Young's "Walk On" from "On The Beach" (despite the misleading album cover title)
Write On
I think once I had published my thousandth story and got my ten thousandth read then that was it for the numbers, and that was a long time ago.
The real biggies are a hundred Vocal stories published and your thousandth read because that shows you that you can do it, and if it keeps your interest, you have no need to stop.
My main areas of writing are Poets, Fiction and Beat although my Fiction is usually Microfiction as I don't feel I am that good a writer, although I do know that I come up with some unusual and original concepts.
More than a third of my Vocal publications are poetry and I am closing in on my thousandth poem, which I will try and make special, maybe make it a thousand words. I did one poem which hit a thousand words which you can check out here:
For the first time in a long time, my last nine stories contain no poetry (apart from links like this one). I think most regular publishing creators on Vocal will have a high proportion of their work being poetry or fiction.
In Beat and Confessions, I am still listed as a Top Creator despite not having a Top Story in either community in over a year, though some of my most-read stories are in Beat, although an author (who still published elsewhere and I often correspond with) is a Top Creator in Viva but has not published on Vocal for six years:
So I should not be too surprised I am still there.
So going forward I am going to keep on writing despite the idiosyncrasies of Vocal and you're going to be stuck with me for a very long time.
Again, thank you so much for putting up with me and supporting me by reading my stories.

Likely a sign that the Top Creators feature isn't being actively maintained. Like that Creators We Love gallery that I forget exists for weeks at a time. Either way, it was quite interesting to journey back to Vocal's beginnings in the time capsule that was Ossiana's profile. Look at those sponsored stories. I know they'll still do one every once and a while, but I've never heard of regular creators being tapped to draft them. Makes you wonder what the compensation looked like
Totally enjoy all of your writing!
Maybe the Top Creators in communities aren't up to date hehehehe
Keep on writing. I find that the more I read the more inspired I get.
We will keep reading, and listening (I always loved that particular record)!
Write on, Mike, Write on
What a great honest article and I will write on. Good job of encouragement for all of us.
