I have decided to hold an Unofficial Vocal Challenge. Why am I doing this? To see you shine bright, like the star you are.

The Prompt (inspired by a video I saw of a woman who was asking herself this question daily):

Who do you actually want to be?

I don't mean "who do you want to be when you grow up?" No, that's not what I'm looking for here. I want to know, strip away outside factors, forget about a job, a place, and other people. This is about YOU and YOU alone. Borders don't exist, there is no such thing as towns, cities, etc. All there is, is you.

You can answer the prompt in one of 2 ways; a memoir or a poem. Make it however long or however short you want.

~

I'm a college student right now, so my gifts are limited on this one. If that stops you from entering the prompt, then, that's okay. Because, honey, for me, it's never about the money, let's be real here, I personally write to write, not for anyone or anything. That being said, my prizes are as follows:

1st place winner: I'll subscribe if I haven't already, plus I'll read 5 old stories, liking, commenting and giving insight on each piece I choose.

2nd place winner: I'll like and comment on 3 old stories, giving insight on at least one and if you wow me, I'll extend that.

3rd place winner: I'll like and comment on 1 old story

That is the best I can give back right now. This prompt really got me thinking. So, I decided to share it with you.

More guidelines:

  1. As I said before, this is about YOU, I'm looking for this to be a deep dive into self. Surface level shit won't cut it.
  2. I don't want to hear about any one else in your life, mention of others will get you disqualified.
  3. This is NOT about a job.
  4. This is NOT your dreams and aspirations.
  5. I just want to know more about YOU. It can pose any emotion, but I don't really think anyone actually wants to be sad, but if you do, then make it sad. I want to be moved by your words, I want to feel something.
  6. Strip yourself naked or bury yourself in the sand.
  7. Write it as if you already have it, let you fingers twirl around the subject as if you own what you are becoming

Closing date: January 31st.

Results: February 15th.

Happy Christmas, Merry Valentines day, and get your new year kickstarted with pondering about your inner most desires.

This is what I wrote:

Best of luck to all you beautiful people πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›

I love your prizes! They are more valuable then giving away a couple of $. I'm in my fucking lazy to even think era, but this got my brain clogs moving.

What a generous thing to offer as prizes, Tanya! I’ve been a student for a good chunk of my life and know how valuable time and attention is when you have so many obligations and assignments. I’m not a poet, but I can always churn out a haiku: https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/just-me-iz1kpa0hvq%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">

I'm in. Always stripped bare when writing anyway. Well done for putting this challenge together, Tanya

Hmm I'll have to think about this one. I personally love the prizes. Given is more valuable than money to me so offering that up is an incredible prize in my book.. It's hard for me to think of myself as an individual since becoming a mom.. but I'll think about it and see if I can come up with something. Great prompt!
