More Observations About My Writing

Introduction

I have written a lot of stories (nudging three thousand now) and I tend to publish two or three a day on Vocal. If we say an average of four hundred words per piece, that is one point two million words I have dropped here.

I was trying to think of a news-related piece of music and at first "News of the World" by The Jam, "Sunday Papers" by Joe Jackson and "Fish and Chip Paper" came to mind and then I remembered one of my favourite feelgood songs "The News" by Carbon Silicon.

Going Forward

Many close Vocal friends do not subscribe to me because I publish so much, but I regard my output like a newspaper, you only look at the bits that catch your interest. I know they must drop into my profile because they read and comment on my stories and that makes me happy.

I have dropped some subscriptions because they flooded my feed to the exclusion of everything else, but there are several I subscribe to who publish far more than I do so, no doubt will surpass my published total in due course.

I will often see three or four of their stories in my feed and will read one or two a day which I think is Ok and I know they are fine with.

We all have life to deal with, and even our writing and publishing as well as reading stories.

I am not sure how many people I am subscribed to, but I have nearly a thousand subscribers, and if I were to read even one story from ten per cent of my subscribers that would be a hundred stories a day. I don't know who those creators are and I am glad Vocal doesn't let us know who our subscribers are because that could cause a lot of annoyance for dome people:

"Why aren't you subscribed to me? Right I am unsubscribing from you, you annoying person"

I have my dozen Creationati to who I am subscribed and I drop in via the links on my profile to see if I have missed anything from them, and usually I have, so if it catches my interest, I give it a read and a comment.

This is my second post today, so if you do read it thank you for that, if not I know you have either not seen it or it didn't interest you.

Thanks again.

Sorry, I'm behind on my reading. <3 I always try to read your articles, Mike. <3

  • It's always good to hear what's on your mind & what you've been doing, Mike. (And the music you include tends to be fun.)

  • Yes, I sure would be hurt to know if someone I'm subscribed to is not subscribed to me 😅😅

You provide a variety of topics, Mike, so some will suit some and others won't. I love the concept of the newspaper. I think if you write across several genres, you will get followers in each, but they will focus on their main interest.

Gosh, I can't believe you've written that much. That's an achievement and a half! Well done!

What a great story this is, and it is neat that you think that Vocal is like a newspaper and subscribers that you have quite a lot can pick and choose what they want to read. I am going to start thinking that way too even if my writing are the ones at the bottom of the bird cage. Good job.

That’s a lots of subscribers. 😳 it seems you have been around here for some time. You say your average per post is 400 words. I’ve been trying to find out why there’s is a minimum of 600 words in most communities, or in all except for Poets. Do you know?
