Four Years On Vocal
How Things Have Changed For Me

Introduction
I started on Vocal over four years ago with this piece, although it seemed to me the focus was on fiction and poetry, two things I had not really touched since school, although there were other "communities" which I did not explore for a while (I have now posted in every community).
The music is "Changes by David Bowie from the album "Hunky Dory"
So What Has Changed For Me?
The friends that I have made in the Vocal Community have encouraged me and given me the confidence to write fiction and poetry, and then anthologise that and self-publish eight books. That is an ambition that I have had for most of my life, and now I have achieved it.
I also share my technical knowledge and am confident enough to challenge and suggest solutions to problems on Vocal.
For me, it has become more than a writing platform; it is a place to read, get ideas and discuss them in relation to potential issues with others.
I often write things, and am not sure which community is right for the story. There are forty-nine communities you can have stories published in, but the forty-ninth is Resources. They have to be chosen by Vocal but there has been nothing new there for over two years, although I continue to write informative pieces about writing and publishing on Vocal.
This is the Vocal Resources Tips Community page.
This is my most recent one:
Conclusion
Thank you for reading, and I would be interested to hear how things have changed for you on Vocal.

Congrats on 4 years and everything that you've accomplished, Mike!🎉
Congrats on the milestone, Mike!! I hit four years last month (still writing the anniversary piece now, lol). And a huge congrats on achieving the personal dream of publishing. Go you! You are absolutely winning! Vocal didn't even have comments four years ago, but so glad they introduced the option. And now such a great community has developed. :)
I appreciate this. I honestly can't recall how I found Vocal, but I was addicted quickly. I started to back off because of a shaky first experience with plagiarism on my "Old Enough" Summer series which became my baby. Then spam, AI stuff scared me. I am back because I missed everyone, well most everyone, lol. Thank you for bringing me into VSS as that was about all I could manage while my mother was struggling and my dear kiddo here (ongoing). VSS has been my thread tbh. My goal is to read more now.
Good job, Mike. I have been here around the long time too. I learned more about writing all kinds of poetry and my writing 'drabbles' for I never heard of them in my English and composition courses.
So much has changed on Vocal throughout these years. Come February, it'll be 4 years on Vocal for me hehehe
Also been here just over four years. Joined following a challenge. And then didn’t write that often, until I discovered I could write my film reviews and histories for the Geek community and started to write regularly. It has moved my writing on. Helping me ditch my academic background and allowed me to find friends and support - because now I’ve learned writing doesn’t have to be a purely solitary pursuit.
Happy four years on Vocal! I only started writing on Vocal in February, but I'm already loving all the new friends I've made.
