Curiosity and the Little Black Dress
Katie watched wide-eyed as her older sister Natalie got ready for a date with an older man, Paul, whom she had been dating for a while. Being only 12 years old, anything her 24 year old sister did was mesmerizing...even the simple act of putting on mascara in the washroom while wearing nothing but her black lace bra and silky black half slip.

I Have Endo and I Have Questions
I often think about how many times a woman that looks like me has spent the majority of her years in inexplicable pain. How many times did she beg to stay home from school as a child during the first few days of her period? How often has she had to use her sick time to call out of work as the pain becomes increasingly unbearable with the start of each menstrual cycle? I sometimes imagine how hard it may have been for her to explain to her parents, or friends, or partner, that this is NOT something that a few Midol and a heating pad can remedy. I often think about how many women that look like me, went back and forth to the doctor for YEARS searching for answers and solutions, only to be disappointed and dismissed time and time again.

There Is A Woman
There is a woman whose story I must tell. Her name will remain unknown, her place in time will surely show itself as her story progresses. In her life there have been many challenges, fears, woes, and much strife. She has experienced many hurts and harmful times, yet in her heart she sees herself as fearless and free.

Corset
An irksome trend which raised its head in 2020 was the return of the corset. On the catwalks of Paris to our home grown mistress of pop culture style (Kim Kardashian) the corset trend captivated the fashion world. As a 21st century woman I found this trend slightly disturbing - surely the feminist movement had seen us progress past such life DIS-affirming couture, birthed from 18th century whalebone constructions which damaged women's internal organs and pushed her lungs high up in her chest? It seemed incongruous with the advances made in feminine equality - or was it?

University Sucks
Film School: how to do all of the work and get none of the credit. I played my hand at getting into the film industry which in itself is a very difficult thing to do, though I would argue that it’s ten times harder to do if you’re a woman who doesn’t act. I did everything the way I was told to; I studied hard and worked hard pitching my ideas and trying to put them into practice. One thing they don’t tell you when you join your first film course is that the sexism starts here. Everything you pitch is deemed ‘too emotional’ due to your woman status, you get graded lower for the same standard of work your male counterparts are submitting and when the men in your group screw around and won’t do their share of the work, the responsibility is on you to get them to do their part.

Birth Control Methods are Targeted at the Wrong Gender
Kids are tough, but there has to be some penalty for sex. Humans and Dolphin are few of the creatures who have sex for pleasure. While we don't know about dolphins, we certainly don't want a kid every time we have sex. So, the need for some type of contraception method arises.
