The Evolution of Vampires in Film and Television
In this day and age, vampires are seen as romantic figures—these beautiful, misunderstood creatures that we can’t help but fall in love with. This wasn’t always the case, though. Vampires used to be something that terrified us, that gave us nightmares. How did that change? I won’t be going into the why, but rather the how. There have been many vampire films and TV shows over the years. This is a look at their progression—their evolution from terrifying monsters to creatures we love and lust after. There are far too many to go through all of them. I will be looking at the big ones that were either very well known at the time of their release, or mark a change from what had been done before.

The Mother-Daughter Battle
I kept seeing people on the interwebs who had written letters to their teenage selves. Sounded like a solid little self-reflection exercise, so I figured I’d give it a try. I thought it would be easy (and perfect timing) considering I just took a major trip down memory lane complete with laughter, tears and a large fire while cleaning out my childhood room at my parent’s house.

Rose Water and Berry Loaf
Honesty one of the best cakes I've ever made! This is my first time using rose water for food flavoring and I must say I am very impressed by this ingredient. Just 2 tablespoons of rose water really gives the cake the wow-factor. It's also not hard to find in supermarkets, which makes life more easier. This recipe consists of raspberry in the loaf along with blueberries at the top to make it seem as if you eating something healthy (Don't we all wish that all cakes could be healthy). For this recipe you will need a medium sized loaf tin with baking paper to make it easier for you to take the loaf out of the tin. You will also need to grease the sides of the tin with butter so the loaf can simply come out when ready to be served.

The Current State of New York Sports
New York City—the most unique, important, dynamic city in the world. New Yorkers don't fuck around. New Yorkers have an arrogance about them, a swagger that comes from being the media and financial capital of the world. We are better than you and are not afraid to tell it you your face. Just ask someone who lives in New Jersey—they may think they are the sixth borough but anyone from New York dumps all over them for being inferior. "Nothing stinks like Jersey"—everyone who lives in New York. "Out of towners" may not love us but they flock to live here. New York has and will always be king.

Beginner Photography
Photography is not something I planned to do as a hobby. It fell right into my lap. It began when I had a friend begin playing rugby. She invited me to her games and after a while I began snapping photos with my phone and posting them on FB. Soon I pulled out my little Nikon handheld camera and started to bring them to games. The pictures were grainy and just plain old bad. However, I became known as someone who enjoyed taking pictures at the game.

10 Things You Didn't Know About John McCain
Republican senator and war hero John McCain was one of the last few politicians who became respected by both Democrats and Republicans alike. He was a man who finally spoke out against the corruption going on around Capitol Hill, when most other Republicans refused to.

The Phoenix Missile: The Definitive Z Car
It's no wonder Car and Driver called it “A phoenix missile you can guide yourself.” One of the first cars to be designed in a Computer Design program (CAD) with aerodynamics as a priority would look different than any other car to ever be conceived. The sweeping nose into the large, exaggerated wheel arches gives the Nissan 300zx, a performance Grand Touring car, the look of the much more expensive supercars from Lamborghini and Ferrari. Even today the design of the 300zx has held up to the test of time and still looks absolutely brilliant. The design was so refined that Lamborghini, after being purchased from Audi, bought rights to use the 300zx’s headlights on their 6th generation Diablo, one of the most iconic supercars of the 1990s and early 2000s. The 300zx offers the best balance between performance, practicality, and price.

Struggling to Find a Study Technique That Actually Works?
We've all spent endless hours trying to figure out how to study the material we were given. Part of being a student is being responsible for learning the material in a way that resonates with you so that you can succeed in the course. Jumping into classes without any idea of how you study best can be intimidating and it often takes time to figure out the best techniques. During my time as a student, I have found that these four study habits work really well for me, and I hope at least one of them helps you get the grade you want in your classes for midterms this year!

Things You Didn't Know About 'Wall Street'
Among the best Wall Street films to watch, the classic 1987 film Wall Street is considered to be the archetypal image of the wealth, surplus, and success of the 1980s. Despite critical and financial success, leading to a lukewarm sequel in 2010, the film had more than its fair share of behind-the-scenes drama. Between this drama between stars Charlie Sheen and Michael Douglas, burgeoning technologies, and historical relevance, here are some things you didn't know about Wall Street.

When Your Chest Feels Like It’s Going to Explode from Anxiety
On days like this it’s a battle to get anything done, make decisions, focus and not lose your temper. Your body is taking you on a ride that you didn’t ask to go on, all because your faulty alarm system has been triggered; and you never have the code to turn it off.

The Art of Thrift-Shopping
Patience, Patience, Patience The first tip I can give is to go into your thrifting adventure with an open mind, and with the patience of a zen Buddha. Thrifting has a lot of misses, many more misses than hits if we are being honest. You probably won't find that amazing pair of Miu Miu heels in your size at the first Goodwill you step into. You probably won't find any Miu Miu at any Goodwill, like, ever. That being said once in a while you will find that "I can't believe this is $12.00" hidden treasure, and it will make everything worth it.

An Interview with Emerging Artist Oriel Poole
If you have yet to hear of the "electro-soul siren" Oriel Poole, you're in for a treat. Based in Los Angeles, California, Poole is carving a niche all her own with music that blends R&B, synth-pop, and electronica. She's primarily self-taught, and that comes through in her music in the best way possible. It's passionate, authentic, and unafraid to challenge the norms set up by the music industry.

Drinking Rituals from Around the World
One of my favorite hobbies is exploring what drinking is like in different parts of the world. Have you tried Japanese whisky or Korean Soju? What about lesser known European spirits like Ouzo and Jenever? Along with tasting these international beverages, it's important to understand the drinking culture in the regions where they originated. Here are some of my favorite drinking rituals from around the world—I encourage you to try them for yourself!

How to Be an Ally to Your POC Cosplayers
The cosplay community is full of creative and nerdy individuals who love to come together to embrace their fellow nerds in fandom shenanigans. As much as the community embraces our differences, we still aren't exempt from issues like racism and colorism and other -isms/phobias. There have been too many occasions when a POC (person of color or NON-white) cosplayer dresses up as a non-white character and get told their skin color is "too dark for that cosplay." There have been cases of white (or Non-POC) cosplayers darkening their skin for the sake of "cos-accuracy" which the POC community has already expressed how harmful the practice is but people still do it.

Frenkie de Jong, a Future Star in the Making
The name Frenkie de Jong may not sound familiar for most people. The Eredivisie (Dutch 1st division) is not a highly televised league like the Premier League or La Liga, but it’s a league with lots of young talent. One of them is de Jong. The young Ajax midfielder has been displaying his passing and dribbling abilities for the past 2 seasons but really came to his own during the 2017-18 season. Last year, he had the best passing accuracy and dribble success rate in the Eredivisie with 91.5 percent and 90.3 percent respectively and that was while playing as a centre-back in a 3-4-3 or 4-3-3 system during a large part of the season.
