Celebrating 10 Years of Marriage Equality
Where were you and what were you doing on June 26, 2015? For me, it was just another day at the office. So why did I bring up this date, you ask? Because today is the 10-year anniversary of marriage equality becoming the law of the land in all 50 states. The United States became the 21st country to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide. It was a huge victory for the us, the LGBTQ+ community, activists, and same-sex couples themselves. Two other groundbreaking rulings also happened on this day: Propositional 8 and the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Propositional 8, also known as Prop 8, was a California ballot proposition that passed in November 2008, which previously prohibited Californian same-sex couples from marrying. In 2010, it was ruled unconstitutional and didn't go into effect until 2013. The Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, was a law that was passed and signed by then President Bill Clinton in 1996. It previously prevented the government from recognizing gay and lesbian couples. However, it was later struck down, specifically Section 3 (1 U.S.C. § 7).

Revisiting Yuri!!! on Ice — 8 Years Later!
That’s right, people—Yuri!!! on Ice came out over 8 years ago. Feel old yet? Yuri!!! on Ice is a lovely little show. It’s a half-figure skating, half-romance anime about a 23-year-old Japanese ice skater named Katsuki Yuri, and he’s having a rough go of it. After binge-eating before a competition due to stress and the depression of losing his childhood dog, Yuri loses terribly at Nationals. He heads back home to Japan, fearing and dreading that his exuberant figure skating career may be coming to a sad and rather lackluster end.

Deliver Me From Them: Jesus, I Need Help!
"Well of course, Daddy, I’m all settled in just fine," I say into the Trimline telephone, counting the eon-long seconds like I’m sitting through one of his drawn-out July sermons, bless him. "No, everything’s been alright, thank the Lord. The staff are... helpful. Nothin’ over the top, just a sweet spirit all around. No need to worry."

Xtra Xtra
There is something that needs to be said during pride month. At least something that I need to remind myself. That I don’t need to be out to everyone during that month. And that I don’t need to be a model trans man. Nor do I need to be the perfect model of gay either. As I am asexual and aromantic. What I also don’t need to do is get into a relationship anytime soon either.

Proudly Living Within The Intersection. Runner-Up in Pride Under Pressure Challenge.
Each day, upon awakening, each one of our individual identities takes center stage. We open our eyes and allow ourselves to be who we authentically are; who we are inherently, at our core. If we're fortunate, the world around us recognizes our identities, and builds systems and institutions that honors these identities in a way that allows us to live fulfilling lives. Our identities are inextricable from who we are, especially how we operate on a daily basis.
