Unseen, slender fingers
tinkle
the ivories, their lilting notes
linger
in the stillness.
Dainty iridescent butterflies
hover
hesitate…
land and alight
on bobbing lily pads
floating
on peaceful ponds where glistening frogs
Croak and plop
into their watery playground.
A sweet, damp scent
wafts, weaves, wanders
over the tranquil vision
Soothing…
Slowly, Sleep
sneaks
onto the scene.
Steals
me away…

Lovely work Angie! 🌸
Such beautiful imagery! Definitely a scene I'd love to soak in!
This is a wonderful evocation of the pond, Angie. Iridescent butterflies and glistening frogs! The pic is glorious, too!
I love the alliterations. My favorite lines are: "hover / hesitate… / land and alight". The imagery is so vivid and on point. Overall your piece captures the subtle and fleeting joys of nature.
This description is really vivid. It makes me feel like I'm right there in that peaceful scene. The imagery of the fingers on the ivories and the butterflies on the lily pads is great. It makes me wonder how you came up with this. Did you have a specific place in mind or was it all from your imagination? Also, what inspired you to write about sleep sneaking in at the end?
Beautifully written!!
