sit in the quiet, alone
For the Moment of Silence Challenge!

sit in the quiet alone and feel the silence on your face like a mask; encompass its feel
is it true what they say? that this world is loud and brash, unafraid and unending, that it will never cease?
let the light reflect from this mirrored face, fractured, broken and beaming, glowing from the inside out
even now, I fear what will become of me if this quiet becomes me, and nothing else matters
carrying its weight upon my shoulders until bone cracks and breaks and falls twice as far as it rose
empty minds and empty lives, devoid now of what made us human, all fading into naught

This line feels both happy but sad, and fits with the idea of masking- “ fractured, broken and beaming, glowing from the inside out”. True feelings hidden underneath, but suffocating us. Heavy stuff Angela, and the picture intrigues me- is it a castle?
Wonderfully written yet so painfully sad!!!❤️❤️💕
There was a tone of stillness and introspection, yet so poignant. Incredibly done! 💌
The last stanza touched my heart.
The first line set such an impressive stage! Loved the comparison of silence to a mask!
Until bone cracks and breaks and falls twice as far as it rose… this was so good Angela
Whoaaaa, this was so poignant yet so beautifully written! Loved your Acrostic!
A somber silence descends as this acrostic unfolds. Nicely done.
What a stirring piece! Loved it!
Nice and deep
Sunk too deep!
"devoid now of what made us human"... oh my god :O <3
This is beautiful written. Well done.
Everyone fears the ache of loneliness, in a modern world that talks less and less.
"I fear what will become of me if this quiet becomes me" -- memorable and evocative line
Sublime, Angela. Simply sublime. So much brilliance and I love the image. Was the image the inspiration for the poem or vice versa?
'I fear what will become of me if this quiet becomes me' - what a line! Very thought provoking work :)
