Shy rabbit
Rabbit: Wonderland Poetry Prompt Challenge day 21
Reluctantly
sleep released her
from its clutchesâŠ
The cold, unyielding stair tread
cradled her numb cheek as
Something gently tickled her forehead.
PleaseâŠ
Just let me sleep!
Painfully, she pried open an eye
just in time to spy
a shy brown bundle of fur
startle and hop silently offâŠ
Come back little rabbit!
But, with a twitch of itâs tail
it was goneâŠ
wishing otherwise
was to no avail.
ButâŠ
the timid
rabbitâs haphazard trail
stirred a faint memory.
Resolutely,
she struggled uprightâŠ
sheâd go tonight!

A LETTER TO MY NINE YEAR OLD SELF
And on the days when the grief feels just a little heavier, I hope the love does too. I hope you sit in his favorite spot, play all his favorite songs, and put on his clothes and fall asleep with them still on. I hope these things remind you that it was such a blessing to have loved someone so deeply that they are worth missing. I hope you cry, not because itâs over, but because it happened, and because when you miss him so much, youâre reminded of that magic. That suffering a great loss doesnât take away from a great love. And that heaven is never too far away if you just look up. On the good days and the bad days, I hope your grief is a reminder that you experienced true love, even if it didnât last forever. And I hope you know how lucky you are to have loved someone so special, that saying goodbye hurts this much.

I was in a Toxic Relationship, with my Workplace
âYou got that?â My ex yelled. His hands were balled into fists at his side. At six foot three, he towered over me. A normal person would have been afraid, but I looked up a video of George Lopez repeatedly saying, âI got this,â and showed it to him. I had grown used to this treatment, so much so that I didnât blink when he ripped the phone from my hand and threw it across the room.
