Reluctantly

sleep released her

from its clutches

The cold, unyielding stair tread

cradled her numb cheek as

Something gently tickled her forehead.

Please

Just let me sleep!

Painfully, she pried open an eye

just in time to spy

a shy brown bundle of fur

startle and hop silently off

Come back little rabbit!

But, with a twitch of it’s tail

it was gone

wishing otherwise

was to no avail.

But

the timid

rabbit’s haphazard trail

stirred a faint memory.

Resolutely,

she struggled upright

she’d go tonight!

Oh how sweet! I'd love to know - what did the trail reminder her of? Where is she going?

Loved this one, Angie. It had a really gentleness tone to it. Nice job.
