Queen Mia

Queen: Wonderland Challenge Day 4

Yesterday was a very dark day!

Her Majesty Mia almost ‘passed away’!

Biscuits for brekkie… as usual

Summoning her servants loudly… as normal.

Heaving and hurling her food back up

when her stomach runs amok

is not unheard of but, less common.

The household blithely continued on.

Our attention was snagged, and the ‘penny’ fell thunk

when she started staggering around like a drunk.

Ebony pupils the size of one cent

The poor little darling began to dement.

Servants family hastily awoke

On tender goodbyes they did choke.

Bundled up and off

No-one dared scoff

At death’s door she did hover

highly unlikely to recover.

She’d lived a good long life

survived an impressive amount of strife.

With promises to do their best

We entrusted her to their care and left, bereft.

Hearts heavy and day dragging by

We wandered aimlessly, only able to sigh.

Our precious Queen couldn’t die on ‘Star Wars Day’…

May the Fourth! No way!

At last, the phone rang

Up we sprang!

Amazing news for us…

She’d risen from the dead, like Lazarus.

An overnight stay

had her yelling — loudly — having her say.

She obtained an early morning release

so the Vets could regain some peace.

Her grand return home didn’t come cheap

but she was unbothered and just went to sleep.

Handsome King Hudson met her with a welcome

that was second to none!

She may have avoided the knife

but surely this is Queen Mia’s ‘Ninth Life’.

A contented kitty!

"Servants family hastily awoke" was a great line. Mia seems like the perfect queen of inspiration. <3

Glad she’s okay! This was quite the dramatic saga! Loved all the little clever touches you put into this! Like crossing out “servants” that gave me quite a chuckle

Oh I’m glad she’s okay. She’s beautiful! For a long time I called my cat “laptop” as that is what I had saved up to buy……. Then the vet’s bill came along!! 🙄 Great poem Angie.

Oh precious Mia! What a scare that was - I can feel it in the poem. I also just adore the clever strike-throughs sprinkled throughout your poem. This honestly had me a ball of emotions - from laughter - to the love and adoration - to genuine concern. Well done!
