A cup of tea
is a feel-good potion.
It breaks the ice,
it shows acceptance,
a symbol of hospitality.
It perks up moods,
prepares for the day—
a ritual since young age.
Some may like it
herbal or fermented,
I like mine
with milk and sugar,
with ginger, cardamom,
sometimes pepper.
A cup of tea,
with steam curling,
is a pleasure sensation.
The only beverage
I allow myself—
it can heal cramps,
or subside headaches.
It can evoke nostalgia,
especially on rainy days.
Friends may part,
but tea shared
will remain memorable.
Long after.
