Unbelievable!
it can’t
be true
but
Surely
it is
i’m almost
blue
holding
my breath
pitted against reason
sparring against doubt
hoping against hope
i go the distance
crawl across the Finish Line Start
What!? Wait! Where…..
did it go?
Vanish point
Did someone move it?
Too hard
Tooo long
Tooooooo far
i’m parched
a
Lone
Wayfarer
languishing
cast adrift
in a
vaaaast ocean of
rust red
desert sands
staggering
Onwards
Upwards
Towards the crest
of yet another wave wave wave wave wave wave
Almost there
where?
Yeah… There!
Only to
Slip
Slide
Slowly
face first
Dowwwnnnnnnnnn
Staring
vacantly
at
my
empty
discarded
water gourd
Lying in
a pool of water
light
Spotlight
of a
searing sun
Blazing unrelenting
swollen tongue
stuck
to sand
sand encrusted teeth
spit
would if I could
Never
liked
the gritty
crunch of sand
Worst part of
beach picnics
spit
I can’t
Remember!>?
Dry as chips
i
Just
have to
Make
it to
Tomorrow
the oasis
Thirst quenching
Soul restoring
Holidays

I made it… just!

Formatting really adds to this one, very creative 😁
You worked wonders with formatting throughout! This clicked along so rapidly and really created a sense of urgency
I love the sensory elements in this one Angie, literally felt the crunch of sand in my teeth! Brilliant work here!

Swollen tongue stuck in sand was so scaryyyy! Loved your poem!
Ahhh....this is an award winner, here! Bravo
Clever metaphor likening stream of consciousness poetry to crossing a desert in search of an oasis! Great work!
