Death is a dark place when you're this side of it;
It strips everything away.
And the worst is you know its presence
Because it is eyeing you up
Whilst its cadaverous maw chews elsewhere.

This made my skin crawl in all the best ways!! Nicely done Rachel!!
Oof. So good. I am not sure I like the idea of death sizing me up while it chews someone else up! Fab writing.
Wow! This piece really grapples with the fear of death. I felt it! Really, really well done, Rachel!
A very thought provoking bit of poetry. Death, it seems, knows no obstacle, but shall we, like a phoenix, rise from the ashes instead?
I love this! The fear of death as it surrounds us, perfectly described.
And no one knows what’s on the other side of it for sure, giving us universal human anxiety. Excellent reflective poem, Rachel.
Gorgeous word choice here!
This is excellent. Hooked me, then those last two. Wow.
Speechless! Well done! ☺
This made me inhale a backwards hiss and my inner dialogue is giving me that told you so shit! This is really good cause it hits where you don't want it to hurt! Kudos Rachel
Ah, this is excellent...I love that last line...grim...but not too far from the way it can feel. especially when you get beyond 40. Well done, chum!
Oof, those last two lines hit so hard! Also, I may be wrong but is the first line missing a word?
Oh, I like that. Eying my presence while it works on someone else. Yuck and yes.
