Love is...
to the tune of "The Impossible Dream", complete lyrics in one place

Love is…
~
To care without thought of return,
Forgive though it hasn’t been earned,
Be there for someone who’s not present,
To share every good lesson learned.
~
Be kind, though your charity’s spurned,
Be true, though their back remains turned,
Rejoice when their fortune’s ascendant,
To grieve their misfortune’s return.
~
So may we be blessed,
To care not the cost,
To lift up the hopeless,
To seek out the lost,
To defend what is right,
Gladsome burden to bear,
To be willing to lay down our lives,
Heaven’s mercy to share.
Let us love, though companions be few,
In humility’s hest,
As a balm, healing, comfort & calm,
Tender, sweet in love’s breast.
~
To lift, though your own is laid low,
To help though it’s no one you know,
Believe it will make all the difference,
To love with impossible hope.

The last 4 lines really speak to me
Gorgeously-penned & inspiring!
A beautifully poetic read. Wonderful.
Absolutely beautiful my friend. Dry much in the same vein my thoughts were going. But so much fuller and more compelling. Very reflective of you. ❤️😘👏🏻
What a powerful message
Absolutely stellar, thick with truth. I feel Christ in it, the exact type of love that we should all strive for. I especially resonated with, "To care without thought of return, Forgive though it hasn’t been earned" and "Rejoice when their fortune’s ascendant, To grieve their misfortune’s return." Both are oftentimes impossible, in our flesh, to achieve. "Let us love...in humility's hest" is a tough call to answer, especially on our own. This is a deeply resonant piece, Randy. Wowza.
Brilliant!! Love your lines, "Believe it will make all the difference, To love with impossible hope."
So beautiful, Brother. I really enjoyed this version so much. Thanks for sharing it with us<3
I was confused but now realize you written a few version of this poem with the same title and subtitle. This made me look up the lyrics of The Impossible Dream as it’s been decades since I last heard it. I forgot the spiritual (or implied) spiritual bend in the words. It’s a very powerful song and this poem along with the other has (gave) captured the essence of the original lyrics. The last line “To love with impossible hope” resonate through me. Hope s not so much impossible but sometimes it sure feels that way.
Hit me write in the feels Randy! Methinks I had residual emotions there. Some parts of it naturally have an instrumental orchestra as I read it. This poem has concentrated life journey in it. 🌼🙏🏾🌼
Really beautiful 🏆🏆♦️♦️♦️
Ah There it is. Beautiful
Beautiful words that we can all learn from Randy.
