I Am Scared

An acrostic poem

I am uncertain about the future

Anything could happen at any moment

Meaning? What meaning?

Surely there is no master plan behind this mess

Chaos is the only certainty, death and taxes the only guarantees

And where is our master puppeteer?

Reading, sleeping when he should be pulling the strings?

Ecstatic by the tangled web He has woven from them instead?

Dare we challenge where He is taking us, walk along a different path?

I do not know where the future leads

Am not certain what waits for me

Maybe I will die tomorrow, maybe even today

But I will make the most of it

Rebel against the strings that pull me

And make my own path in life

Veer straight onto my own master plan

Eventually making my way to paradise

JBaz beat me to it. That’s such a brilliant line. So much uncertainty and fear in the world right now - you wrote this so well.

'Rebel against the strings that pull me' Great line, this reads like a battle cry for individuals to rise and take back what is ours, on our terms.
