More Than Just Words
Finding Groundedness in the People Who Make Time
More than sweet words, I cherish the people who are willing to show up for me.
The depth of a relationship isn’t determined by how many times we say, “Let’s meet up another day.” Those seemingly warm words often go unfulfilled. Instead, it is the friend you don’t contact often, or even someone who lives far away, who quietly drives over the moment you say, “I’m a little tired lately.”
In the adult world, everyone is busy. Making time is more sincere than saying nice things. After all, time, once given to you, cannot be given to anyone else.
I used to think friendship required frequent meetings and constant chatting. Later, I realized that true friends are those who, even after a long time apart, can sit together without any barriers, as if they had never been separated.
That feeling isn’t about excitement; it’s about groundedness. It’s not about noise, but about peace of mind. It’s about sharing a bowl of noodles, taking a short walk, and chatting about your lives—until suddenly, the world doesn’t seem so exhausting anymore.
As you go further in life, you become better at discerning people. Many will offer sweet words, but few will truly walk toward you. Action is the mark of being valued, remembered, and cherished. It is a light that doesn’t need grand gestures to shine brightly in your heart for a long time.
So now, more than promises, pleasantries, or empty words of concern, I cherish those who are willing to appear before me. They let me know that in this suffocatingly busy world, I am not alone.
