Foxed by Donna
An Acrostic Tribute to Donna Fox (HKB)
Did you happen to hear of a young Canadian by the name of Donna?
Of literary fame, she should surely be, eventually, in my opinion
Never read anything by her fair hands that didn't feel noteworthy
Notable of praise, a closer read, applause, and an approving nod
Acrostics are just one of the many strings to her bow, astounding
Fiction—her forte, her characters shine, and twisting tales never falter
Oh, but she's more than a poetess and fiction writer, an original
Xenial to all, she is friendly and witty as anyone, with a glow of xanthic
Her determination is matched by her spirit of encouragement and hope
Kind, creative, courageous in her writing, challenging, and driven, kinetic
Bright, bubbly, bold—that’s Donna, my friend. Always inspiring, always her best.

Thanks for reading!
Author's Notes: If it wasn't entirely apparent from the title, subtitle, or content of the poem, it is my ode to Donna Fox, in acrostic form (her favourite poetry style, and one of my favourite poetry styles). I decided to add a little bit of difficulty into the writing by making every line start and end with words that have the same first letter (doubling on the acrostic format).
As you can tell, I am quite a fan of hers. As everyone should be.
Here is a link to her profile:
This follows on from my ode to several other Vocal friends/fellow creators, including Rachel Deeming (started the whole thing), Matthew Fromm (yep, that guy!), Stephen A. Roddewig (Still isn't K. Roddewigg, no K and no double-g), and D.K. Shepard. Rather than flooding this page with embedded links to all the pieces, I've simply supplied each name above with a hyperlink that takes you to the related poem.

Wow, learned the definition of Xenial and Xanthic today. Clearly you were the right man for this moment. No way I could pulled off a double acrostic like this. Tribute worthy of the mighty author herself 👏
Heheh cute acrostic and love the double feature! Lovely tribute to Donna.
Nicely done, Paul, and doubled down on the acrostic. 👍
Awww, this is such a wonderful tribute to Donna. I'm a hugeeeee fan of her too 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Love this! And wow, what a double challenge with the 'x'! Such a kind, lovely tribute to a great writer and person, Paul. Your mind never stops, does it?
Aw, this is too sweet, Paul <3 Love the Acrostic <3 Donna is such a great person to have as a friend <3
What a wonderful tribute to a great writer. I love the double acrostic style--such a challenge, but you accomplished it flawlessly! And the rhythm is very bouncy, almost like something that I would expect to belted out in a bar somewhere. (Imagine that, someone in a bar chanting your poem to their favorite author--Donna Fox!) Well done.
You found your muse? haha Jokes aside, I'm jealous of Donna now. I love how you jump between the styles so effortlessly, like everything is in your veins.
Hear hear A rising star and one I am happy to have witnessed
Oh Paul!! Always have to make it harder for yourself than you have to lol I appreciate you endlessly, for your friendship, kindness and support!! Mostly for your smart ass remarks though, you always know how to make me laugh! Thank you!
