An Old Poem I Discovered From 2016
Seems I have been writing poems for a bit longer than I thought. This is the original text from the Seven Days In post
The thing is it's Saturday tomorrow so this is a distinct possibility for all of us. And I need some music to go with it, and I think Kites by Simon Dupree and The Big Sound (who later morphed into the excellent Gentle Giant) but be a perfectly ethereal way to wrap this up. The video is something I took at the Washington Kite Festival in 2010 which I went to with Fiona, my friend Nicky and her children Sharné, Alisha and Donovan

There Is Always Hope
I have been feeling very down, so much that I decided to stop writing and then paradoxically decided to write about it. It is so easy for me to feel self-pity but then thought maybe I should write a poem about kindness. In our cashless society yesterday I picked up a pound that someone had dropped on an Edinburgh pavement, and then later a homeless guy asked me for a tab (cigarette) which I didn't have, but I did have that pound coin which I gave to him. It only cost me the effort of picking it up off the pavement but it was worth it to see him smile and thank me.
