We never expected you to enter our lives. We were not going to get another dog. My dad, his heart still aching after our last dog, had sworn no more pets. It was too hard when they passed away, and he was always the one who had to take them to the vet.

From Diggy to Bolt
About ten years ago I rescued Diggy. I just lost my dog previously, a Scottish terrier. I had him for fifteen years. The loss of him was traumatic. He didn’t want to let go, and he passed in my room when I was holding his paw. Thirty minutes before he passed, I had this feeling that he was just going to pass. I’ll never know how I knew but later on it happened a couple more times that I felt someone was going to pass away.

The Day I Found My Best Friend
I was working at a doggie daycare when I first laid eyes on Mollie Lou. Her name was Blanche at the time. She was brought to Colorado with her three siblings, Beans, Bogs, and Batch, by a rescue who typically rescues Shepherds but they couldn't leave these precious babies behind. They came from an out of state place that was ready to put them to sleep. It was my first year working at the daycare and I had seen a few different foster dogs come through the facility. I loved each of them as if they were my own but none of them chose me to be their human. When I first saw Blanche, I immediately fell in love with her. Any time I entered the yard, she was there to greet with me with plenty of kisses and lots of excited barks. Before I was even able to say I was interested in her, another person was already signing up to adopt her. They ended up taking Blanche home and that's where she received her new name, Mollie. I was disappointed but couldn't be happier that Mollie was adopted because she was the last of her siblings to be rescued permanently. A couple months went by and Mollie started coming to daycare more often. I would walk into the yard and there she was, wiggle butt and all, ready to play. One day the person who took her home asked me if I was still interested in adopting her. I tried hard to contain my excitement but I was also curious as to why Mollie was being returned. I asked all the typical questions; is she bathroom trained, does she get along with the other dog at home, is she kennel trained, is she good on walks and leashes. I was reassured Mollie was excellent at everything I asked about but because she was a Beagle/Boston Terrier she was getting too big for their chihuahua at home. I set up a home visit immediately to make sure she was the right fit for my home and I wouldn't miss out again. My boss brought her over with all of her things just in case it was a perfect fit. It was, Mollie made herself right at home by rolling over to get belly rubs and show off her back scratching skills. I signed the adoption papers that night and a few days later, Mollie Lou was officially my rescue dog. Now it was a rough first few weeks because all the things I was reassured she was awesome at, she actually still needed a lot of training. Who could blame her though, she was only six months and still a baby just learning everything. Kennel training was the hardest because she didn't want to be alone but she was too young and curious to be left unattended. At night, she would cry and pout until I came over, laid next to her with my hand inside her kennel until she fell asleep. During the day, she would find whatever she could and pull it through the kennel with her. To really show her disapproval she managed to pull the television remote into the kennel and she chewed off only the important buttons like the power button and the volume buttons. Eventually, Mollie didn't need her kennel anymore and she was able to be a free roam dog. Her favorite place to lay would be on the top of the couch so she had the perfect view to look out the window. That was seven and half years ago. Ever since I brought her home, we have been inseparable. She is the best companion anyone could ever hope for. She has been through everything with me and not once has she ever complained as long as I provide the snacks and delcious meals. I think it's safe to say, I needed her more than she needed me. She brings me peace in this chaotic world and she is the best big little sister to her younger Husky/Malamute brother. As we are getting ready to celebrate her eighth birthday in May, it is amazing to look back at our incredible journey together. I'm lucky she chose me to take this wild ride with. I lent a paw but she rescued my heart.

Hemi
We have a boxer named Hemi by the previous owner. He was going out of town with the oil field to a different state and could not take the dog with him. So, instead of allowing him to take the dog to the shelter my significant took the dog from him. I was surprised when my significant brought him home and I knew the dog did not deserve to go to a shelter but what did we need another animal for.

Cola Boy
The day Cola showed up in my life was no different from any other day. I woke up around 4 am to get ready for the opening shift at work. I had to leave the house by 4:30 am to get to work on time. The day went uneventfully until my shift was just about to end at 2 pm. I notice a lady talking to her friend in one of the booths in the café/convenience store I worked in. She looked like she had just lost her best friend.
