An Angel Get's Her Wings
It was raining the day I first saw that little ball of black velvet, even then showing her disdain of getting wet. Being a wise one she did the choosing, which was appropriate as I was a rookie in this important decision. And among the dozen or so squirming souls vying for attention, she guided my hand and my heart. Wrapping her in a warm blanket on that cold, damp day, we made our way home, a new journey for both of us. She told me her name – Angel. Angel? For a Rottweiler? Trust me she whispered. I did. And both of us never looked back.

HOW I GOT GCATS & A GPUP
When my daughter was nine years old she rescued a kitten from a neighbor in our apartment complex. The elderly man had over twenty cats that were all being neglected in a two-bedroom one-bathroom unit. The kitten was covered in fleas. It was so small she fit in one of my daughters' hands. At the time neither my daughter nor I knew anything about taking care of a cat. I never had any animals of my own when I was growing up because I traveled out of town too much. We made a horrible decision to give the cat a shower. Alexandria held the cat to her chest while I washed it with flea soap and warm water from an adjustable shower head. The cat had fleas coming out of its eyes and getting all over Alexandria, not to mention its claws were hurting my poor daughter. We were able to get quite a bit of the fleas off of the kitten especially after drying her and putting flea powder all over her and the room they stayed in. Alexandria was traumatized from the whole shower experience and after only one short week she found a home for the kitten.

Stark is my Hero
I always loved animal. Since I was very young my parents made sure that I was surrounded by dogs mostly. No matter where we lived we almost always had an dog. That changed of course when I got a little older. My parents divorced when I was 14, both my brother and I had very big mental health issues and an animal just seemed to be the last thing on our minds. I didn't really discover my love of cats until I was 15 and my dad suggested that I take a cat home to my mom. We named him Bandit but we didn't have him very long before he was stolen. Then we had a cat named Isra who we decided to give away because we simply couldn't take care of her and needed to find her a new home that would love her more.

My North Star
You don't have to live a long life to live a good life. Some of us don't start off with ideal circumstances, but each of us has the power to change the ending of our story. When we adopt animals, we have the power to give someone a second chance and hold space for something better.

FELINES FOREVER
I actually have three adoption stories, and that's the funny thing about cats, THEY adopt you, not the other way around. They know where they want to live and go to all lengths to get you to know they choose you. So no matter how hard you try, to say "just this once", they melt your heart and become part of the family.

Simba
Jan called to say that it was about time we had another cat! It seems she had a lovely little female grey tortie in the cattery due to it being dumped over her fence. She had rehoused the last one to us and we had Ming from 2 years to a very healthy 17 years old. Such a proud and awesome cat too.
