Mia and Goofie
I know the challenge is about talking one particular dog in the present, but in this case, I cannot do that. The only dog we have now is our daughter's dog, Ugga, who is a rescue, and she is skittish around adults. The stories of her are not my stories to tell, they are our daughters. While she is a wonderful canine and has warmed up to us, to a point, her stories and memories created are mostly the ones she has made with our daughter. However, I will skip the sad, it's too painful to talk about, we are still not over the loss of our companions yet, even though it has been years, I will stick to the happy, funny and odd.

Sometimes, you just can't love enough
Think Taffy. Think sweet. Think sticky. Think candy and treats. Think the very opposite of all those conjurings and you will have a first insight into Taffy, the dog I loved who hated me. And the dog whose demise is scrawled in jagged letters across my memory. I loved him desperately and would have done anything for him but life, and what people had done to him – humans one would have thought responsible and caring – made him hate and mistrust me. I had Taffy as my pet dog between my ages of 8 and 15. And I have the scarred hands he left me to prove how very hard I tried to love him into fearing no longer.

Signs that Your Dog Needs Grooming
Groomers see everything. While most of their days are filled with routine groomings, they have also seen dogs and cats that are really in need of a good grooming. Most of their clients are going to bring their dogs in every few weeks in order to manage their hair. Others come in a few times a year for a good bath.

An Eventful Hike
The sun had not yet risen when Sidney, my German Shepherd, and I loaded up to go for a hike. I knew it would be a long day. My goal was to reach the trail head by no later than 6:30 am. The hike itself would be a rough one. The trail to Pine Creek Lake is labeled at the trail had as 4.5 miles with nearly 3600 feet of elevation gain. The average length of time it took hikers was around eleven hours according to hiking reports. Those same reports claimed the trail was both longer and steeper than the trailhead claimed. Sidney and I like to hike and while this sounded like a long rough day, I was excited to take on the challenge.

My Stash
I was at a point in my life where I didn;t care about any thing or any one. Nothing and no one mattered to me. If there was any thing that was going to happen in my life I was sure it would be nothing but more heartache. Even though I couldn't even imagine how that could happen. After all there really was nothing worse than what I had been through the past few years. The only thing I had to look forward to now was the day when I would exist no more. I longed for that day to come soon.
