The View from the Dog House (Pt. 12)
Well obviously I was not going to let my brother Pickle hog the limelight, so listen up! Scamp has seized the platform! I am truly the brains behind us. I have been talking about blogging for years and I am still pressing for a Twitter account. Who do you think it was that persuaded Herself that she needed to ditch the pathetic little phone she had? Can you imagine? She had a phone that she could speak to people on and maybe text. And that was that! Eventually, I managed to convince her to get something that could do those things, but gave her internet and email access and served as a camera, too. "All the better to take spontaneous snaps of me," I said. I'd like to think that that's what swayed her.

5 Tips for Ensuring Your Dog Is Always Well Groomed
Owning a dog is a big responsibility—you not only have to invest time and money in the pet, but you must connect with them emotionally as well. Grooming is one of the basics of dog ownership. Grooming doesn’t necessarily mean fancy pampering sessions; instead, it involves keeping the dog clean, ensuring the dog smells good, and looking for any signs of issues. If you’re a new pet parent and you don’t know too much about grooming, here are five fundamental points you should know:

The View from the Dog House (Pt. 11)
I have commandeered this post, which means my brother Scamp, known to me sometimes as the Squirt, will probably follow suit with the next one. Where Pickle leads Scamp invariably follows. I like to think that I am the leader of the three of us. Unfortunately, so does Scamp on occasion, whilst Herself insists that she should be obeyed at all times and is therefore our illustrious leader. This produces potential problematicals. (JRT speak technical term.)

Backyard Chickens (Pt. 3)
The chicks arrival and the time since they got here has been a bit hectic. My daughter went from excited protector to a distracted child. It happens. Then she shifted again to mother hen and now back to distracted caretaker. Seems like progress to me.

The View from the Dog House (Pt. 10)
Another agent rejected her novel this morning, which is obviously disappointing. However, it was a very encouraging message telling her not to give up as it is, after all, a very subjective industry. So she is determined to crack on. But first she has to get organised. Cleaning isn't easy because we don't like it—any of it —but some serious tidying up is called for. Apparently she has never been particularly tidy and was constantly nagged by her mother who told her as a child that a tidy room showed a tidy mind so she says she is on a mission to get organised. But obviously we need to get this blog together and she finds a glass of wine conducive to creativity...

Beware of Dogs
Whether they are playful pets or fierce warriors, dogs have never left man's side. Since the beginning of civilization, dogs have always been trustworthy and loyal companions of mankind. With their kind, gentle spirits and great strengths, they have been a great help to people of all nations and tongues. They deserve to be well-taken care of, because of how much they take care of humankind. Dogs are very impressive creatures that, in spite of the responsibilities of taking care of them, one cannot overlook the fun adventures and the new perspective of life that comes along with them.

Backyard Chickens (Pt. 2)
So, we've got chickens coming. (Well, now they're here, but I'm writing this a bit late.) The biggest job when you're waiting on your chicks is to prepare for them. There are a number of things to be aware of before you start trying to piece together everything, so let's go over what I've learned.

The View from the Dog House (Pt. 8)
Apparently we are not having a holiday this year. That said, there are holidays and holidays. We used to go away for weekends on a regular basis and had some full weeks away as well. We used to go to what we called our Bolthole and we loved it. It was a three bedroom static caravan in Cornwall. It had decking so we used to have somewhere where we could run free or flop out and enjoy the sunshine. Unfortunately, she sold it after a nasty experience letting others enjoy, it but oh! We do miss it—we loved going there.

Keeping Your Pet Healthy and Secure
Anyone who has a fur baby knows how important it is to keep our little pets healthy and secure. When we are gone for the day, it may weigh on us the risk our pets are exposed to us. At any time, they could be threatened by a house fire, by damage done to the home by a falling tree or out-of-control vehicle, or through a break-in by neighborhood hooligans. There are a variety of ways, fortunately, for homeowners and renters in this day and age to protect our furry friends at home.

Dog Food Health Risks
I have struggled with my dog for the past 13 years regarding her diet. She has a very sensitive digestive system and is always having issues if she eats the wrong thing. She was never happy with dry food, only wet food, so I fed her Purina and Alpo and any other food that was supposed to be good... until she stopped eating it. She was seven, and she had blood in her stool and would not eat, so off we went to the vet. She was diagnosed with colitis, and I was told she was allergic to grain. I began making her food at home, using hamburger well-drained, carrots, and brown rice. She did well on the food, but she was gaining a lot of weight.
