Cats Over Christmas

The Cats I Have Met Recently

Introduction

This is just to share some of the cats I have met over Christmas with my Vocal friends and audience. You can also track them on Instagram with the tags #CatsInNam and #CatsofVocal, here is an example:

Most cats just sit and pose, the odd ones demand attention and some just run away.

This guy hid behind a sheet, so it's a bit blurry because I had to digitally zoom it. He had been sitting on a fence but as soon as I got level with his perch he ran and tried (unsuccessfully) to hide from me.

This one comes almost every day to demand treats. On Christmas Day he visited four times, starting at six AM and the last visit was at a quarter past midnight (which I suppose is technically Boxing Day).

Today, he didn't turn up til mid-afternoon.

I love seeing cats who perch in odd places like this one on top of the gate to the back yard.

The ones over the last two days seem to be glaring at me, as if to say "What the hell do you think you are doing, disturbing my peace?".

They often like sitting on top of wheelie bins.

But then again they seldom run away, they seem happy, sitting and posing for their photograph. Really that is all I am their photographer, and when they want treats I am expected to provide them, and I usually do.

Then you get cats sitting on cars, I assume they jump off when the owner needs to drive somewhere but I bet some will just stay on the car roof.

Then many just sit on steps. I don't know whether they are waiting to be let in, or they just see the step as one of their many thrones.

One of the slightly sad things that happens on my walks, is when cats seem to disappear. Sometimes I know it is because the owners have moved, but other times I fear they may have taken the trip over the rainbow bridge, but I never actually know.

They are there for walk after walk that I go on then one day they are not there. Sometimes they do return after a few weeks but other times they never return.

I think it would be wrong to include pictures of cats who I think have left us, but the reality is that their owners could just have moved, as many of the areas I wander through are rental areas.

Many of these cats have appeared in my previous stories that you can check out here, and they do have plenty of photographs for you to enjoy.

This means that I still have all the cats that I have met with me, and they are there for you as well.

People often ask if I have a cat, or why I don't have a cat. Like Robert Smith of the Cure, I am very protective of my own time, which I suppose makes me selfish. I will give them treats and pet them them, but that is as far as it goes.

Many of my friends have cats and dogs and they get a great deal from their pets, but I could not deal with a pet 24/7 although I have had dogs in the past.

Conclusion

I love capturing cats in all situations.

Behind trees, in windows and just sitting on drives and paths. I know some have gone, but I always meet new ones and people love the ones I do share with them, such as the tree above.

Thank you so much for reading and I hopw you have enjoyed seeing my feline friends.

Thanks you for sharing the cats – I love cats. I prefer that people keep their cats indoors because it makes them safer. And it appears that many of those cats are related so they weren’t neutered. Just so many cats and dogs without homes, it is sad…
