You couldn't focus at work. You can't focus while working from home either. Now what?
Here's a tip that will change all of that.

I know this may be controversial, some of you may even call it reckless, but my golden advice is:
QUIT.
Yep. I said it.
But let us discuss this more, alright?
So you were at your work place and at some point the productivity died. You just wanted to go home and kept thinking about all the other things you could do while you were home. Now you get the opportunity to work from and you think to yourself “YAAAAAS! I’m going to get so much more done now! I’ll be in the comfort of my home! I can make use of the time that I’d otherwise spend driving to and from work!”. So you’re working from home aaaaaaaand……nothing. You still can’t focus. You’ve tried all the things that Buzzfeed told you to do and buy to help your productivity. You created a space in your home that is just for your work and still nothing. So what’s wrong? Now being honest for a moment, it is very hard to function when the world around you is falling apart. Shutting down and being unable to concentrate can be side effects of stress and anxiety, which so many of us are experiencing right now. BUT, another reason is that maybe you just hate your job or it’s not fulfilling, so maybe the answer is to quit. Now, I’m not saying to just peace out today, you have to have a plan.
With the worldwide pandemic it may seem like it would be impossible to move on and while it may be hard, it’s not impossible. If you’re telling yourself “this is so nuts, why would I do that now?” My response is that if you don’t do it now then when? We need to start exploring other opportunities now because 1) time will continue to pass and there will never be a perfect time to make a move and 2) we don’t know when things will return go back to how they were (but should they though?) or if this is our new norm.
Listen, I was around during the plague (yeah, that plague) and I can tell you that it wasn’t the plague’s fault that I was struggling with my job. My job just sucked. It wasn’t the most convenient time to quit, but I’m glad I did it. Yes, it was really scary but what was even scarier was the thought of staying some place that was dulling my magic, and where I was constantly accused of witchcraft for voicing ideas to make a better work environment (eye roll).
Keep your eyes open, brainstorm, and look for what is going to make you happy whether it’s a better work environment, better pay, or being your own boss. It’s now or never, my children.
