Hello. My name is not Atlas Thunderbaux and I want to bring a little more clarity to this project. Yes, there is still a flesh and blood person having these experiences and sharing their thoughts and ideas. But I have chosen to embark on this future under a pseudonym for an important reason.

My Past Futures

There were two branching futures ahead when I decided to start this blog. Though the words are the same in both, in one future I am me, the flesh and blood right now behind the keyboard. And in this one, I am Atlas. The reason I chose this future is that for once I wanted to share my ideas with the world free from the constraints of my ego. Alter ego is the perfect term for this new process. Ego free writing, free from the worries and fears that plague our squishy human minds. Free from the bias, and the need to paint everything in a light that makes us look like the hero. To give more credit to the failures and learn from them. Not spin them into a narrative.

The Spark

A game-changing book called Ego is the Enemy by Ryan Holiday.

Every chapter and anecdote brought more insight into how my life was controlled by ego. One of the pitfalls of deciding to invest time and energy into bettering yourself is the sole focus on yourself. I focused on nothing but me. My physicality – I was fat. My mentality – I was miserable. My perseverance – I was directionless and lazy. It was years of I’s, me’s and selves. Though I was focusing on positive changes, me being the sole focus led to an ego that thought everyone should have the same focus too. Suffice to say expecting everyone to focus on you as much as you focus on you is a poisonous thing. Now, through the lens of Atlas, I can take me out of it.

Focusing only on oneself narrows the number of futures available to you. Focusing on goals, ideas and other people brings the potential futures way up. Don’t get me wrong, we should absolutely help ourselves first. If we don’t have optimal bodies or minds, we won’t be equipped with the tools and energy to help others. I’m finally in a good mental and physical place. I recognise that and want to start doing something special with it.

The Potential Futures

In this future I am utilising my love of words to try and aid others. I hope filtering my experience through Atlas makes the words and ideas speak for themselves. If I spark a new idea and direction in just one reader it will have been worth it. There is a vast array of life experiences waiting to be told. I want to know yours, and share mine so I can strengthen my skillsets, and aim for futures with interviews, speaking events and maybe even a book. Maybe even my dream of my own Ted talk.

Your Futures

Please know this – I’m not trying to hide. Atlas Thunderbaux is my catalyst, not my shield. You just need to focus on the ideas and any new sparked futures ahead of you. I wouldn’t be doing you any favours if the anecdotes presented here are fabricated to fit a narrative where I am constantly the hero. We have Instagram for that. We are already wearing the masks of multiple identities. We are someone different when we present ourselves at work to our colleagues. We are different again when we are in the comfort of our family and friends. And whether we like to admit it or not, we are our most us when we are alone.

Put yourself into your own Atlas Thunderbaux. Name your alter ego. What truth would you share with the world now you are free from the constraints of your ego?

Feel free to share your thoughts here.

Thank you for your time.
